In Kabarole

The District Health Officer for Kabarole Dr. Richard Mugahi has challenged the concerned authorities in different Refugee camps in Rwenzori region for failure to provide support staff members at Fort portal regional referral hospital where refugees are referred for medication.
Mugahi said that this has continued to cause overcrowding of patients, drug out stock and overworking of inadequate staff members employed at the referral hospital by the central government.

The DHO made the remarks during the closure of a four days meeting by refugee hosting districts in Uganda at St. Joseph’s Inn Virika Fort portal municipality.
Dr. Mugahi said that there is need for Non-governmental organizations that take care of refugee to provide more health workers at the hospital so that the number can fit to provide services to the increasing of patients.

The hospital has been grappling with the highest maternal death rate where 30 mothers died on labour in one quarter.

Fort portal Regional referral hospital admits patients from the seven districts of Rwenzori region with two refugee camps of Kyaka in Kyegegwa and Rwamwanja in Kamwenge district.

In Bushenyi
Stanibic bank which had earlier closed its branch in Bushenyi town has now come back in form of Agent Banking in partnership with Shell Marindi after approval Bank of Uganda to transact business.
According to Henry Bamwine the shell Marindi retailer , the public is now free to easily access bank services from the branch.
He added that Bushenyi residents have been facing difficulty in getting bank services since the transfer of Stanibic bank Bushenyi branch to Ishaka town.
Services to be offered include; cash deposits, cash withdraws, school fees payments, bill payments like water and electricity bills , money transfers, interbank transfers, account opening among others.
Bamwine called upon parents in Bushenyi town to embrace this opportunity and bank school fees when it’s still early to avoid inconveniences.
Bamwine also added that they are soon introducing a highly sensitive ATM machine which will be used to deposit and withdraw money as well. He emphasized that this will make it easy and cheap to for Bushenyi residents and the public at large.

In Ibanda
Chaos as Ibanda municipal NRM campaigns kick off allegedly threatening with pistol and gun to shoot.
The Resident District Commissioner, Ibanda, Mr. Eliasto Akatuheebwa, cautioned the NRM party candidates for the parliamentary and Mayoral seats in Ibanda municipality against creating confusion.
This comes after some candidates raised a concern intimidation and threatening from their opponents.
Akatuheebwa was speaking to NRM candidates who attended a road map joint campaign meeting at the NRM head office in Ibanda town where he promised to appoint a security committee to investigate and handle the issue.
He also revealed that supporters of some candidates are planning to go with sticks on joint campaigns to beat up their opponents.
He thus assured the candidates especially junior politicians who are the victims of threat and security will be tightened urging them to remain peaceful.
