In Bunyangabu—
The King of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi Iv, has donated a refrigerator for storing drugs to Kiyombya Health Centre III.
The king’s donation followed cries from the health center’s in-charge, Carol Katende, who said that their immunization vaccines and other drugs are getting spoilt because of lack of a refrigerator that would ensure their proper storage.
This was during King Oyo’s visit to Bunyangabu district on Friday, an event that was held at late Enos Nyamutale’s home, a former parish chief to the kingdom, in Kiyombya sub-county in the same district.
Katende said many children are not immunized from the health facility because all the refrigerators broke down.
King Oyo then ordered the kingdom’s Prime Minister, Benard Tungakwo, to immediately buy a mini refrigerator that can be used by the health facility, and it was later bought and handed over to the health center.
In his speech, the king asked his subjects to educate their children and ensure they maintain hygiene in and around their homes so as to avoid preventable diseases.
The Bunyangabu district LC V chairperson, James Ategeka Mugaramu, appreciated the King’s donation, saying that it will help in ensuring a healthy young generation.
According to Katende, the health center serves 29 villages and is hopeful the donation will help in extending the life span of their drugs.
