Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi (aka Bobi Wine) has been driven to his home in Magere after being briefly detained at Kasangati police post.
Bobi Wine was driven to the post from Entebbe airport in a white police Land cruiser GX vehicle registration number, UP7500.
Bobi Wine touched down at Entebbe at 12.45 PM aboard Kenyan Airways and whisked to the car before he could go through immigration. The car sped off through the UN base and took the Kampala- Entebbe Express highway.
Earlier dispersed hundreds of people who had gathered at the MP’s home to welcome. The people had erected arches and pasted his posters along the road that leads to his home.
Government has hailed Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) for cooperating with security forces who delivered him from Entebbe Airport to his residence in Magere – Kasangti.
Bobi Wine arrived Thursday afternoon from the United States where he had been for about three weeks for treatment.
Government Spokesman Ofwono Aopndo said about an hour and half after the MP’s arrival, that he had been “safely” delivered to his Magere home.
“From Entebbe Airport Police has delivered Kyagulanyi safely in his home at Magere, Wakiso District,” Opondo said.
This was around the same time, however, it was alleged that the MP had been detained at Kasangati Police Station.
Meanwhile Opondo went on to praise the MP for cooperating with security services.
“We want to than (thank) Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobo Wine) for easily cooperating with law enforcement officers at Entebbe airport who provided him with a chauffeur driven car, escorts and traffic clearance to Magere,” Opondo said.
Opondo added that Bobi Wine “did not attempt to resist police request to escort him home.”
Bobi Wine had earlier yesterday protested the arrangement of being driven by police to his house.
He said from the airport he needed to first meet his grandmother who lives in Najjanankumbi, before heading to his home.
