In Bushenyi—

The Rotaract club of Bushenyi has today 19th Oct.2018 donated number of items to Bushenyi Primary School Centre for the disabled to help them during school.

A team of youth led by their chairperson Ms Ntamba Evas and the project director Walugembe Eric donated items that included fruit trees, plates, cups and sanitary pads among others.

Ms Ntamba noted that the fruits should in future be used to fight malnutrition among the school children.

The deputy head teacher Ms Agaba Charity thanked the team for the good heart and encouraged the school to take an example of the youth so that they can also help the needy when they grow up.

She also noted that they receive little money from the government and they have a lot to cater for so they survive on the mercies of the public.

Rotaract club is attached to Rotary Club and involves only youths aged between 18 and 30 years.

In Bushenyi—
Residents of Bushenyi under their umbrella Bushenyi New Voice Network has today 19th Oct.2018 asked the office of RDC to help them meet the president in person when he comes to Bushenyi on 27th oct.2018.
This was during a meeting with the chairperson Mr. Jaffari Bassajabalaba and the RDC at Bushenyi district headquarters.
Unsatisfied residents led by their chairperson Richard Nkiire handed a letter to the RDC to take to the president in which they complained that the president only meets few and similar faces whenever he comes to Bushenyi as if Bushenyi depends on individuals.
They added that votes for the president come from the whole community not individuals.
They also said that the government development programmes only benefit the known individuals and mafias leaving the local people behind.
Bassajjabalaba confirmed the allegations that he also knows some of the government programmes that are meant for youth but are benefiting people as old as him.
The RDC thanked the residents for being peaceful and assured them that their message would get to the president.

In Mbarara—
Hearing of criminal cases where former Presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye together with Patrick Amuriat the FDC party President and other politicians are accused of assault, inciting violence, and malicious damage to property has started at Grade one magistrate court in Mbarara.
Other co-accused include; Ingrid Turinawe the Party Secretary for Mobilization, Kawempe North MP Mubarak Munyagwa.
The four politicians including one Fred Kato, Besigyess driver, allegedly committed the offences as they moved in a procession through Mbarara town on 14th November 2017 to hold a campaign rally for Patrick Amuriat Oboi at Kakyeka stadium.
Amuriat was then contesting for FDC party presidency where he defeated Mjr. Gen Mugisha Muntu.
During the hearing, state witness Collins Kaganzi the Field Force Unit (FFU) commander Mbarara faced hard time in court as defence lawyer Erias Lukwago cross examined him.
Lukwago expressed disappointment after prosecution failed to parade all the four state witnesses in court and requested that the case be closed because its inconveniencing them to keep commuting to Mbarara to come and listen to only one witness.
But the Mbarara Grade One Magistrate Sanyu Mukasa faulted defence lawyers and the accused persons for appearing in court late saying all the witnesses were present in court at 9.00am.
Sanyu added that she only reconvened court at 11.00am when they showed up and asked them to accept to have the case adjourned to 22 February 2019.
Lukwago later told journalists that there was no justification as to why witnesses were not brought in court saying this is the cause of delay of delivery and administration of justice and the backlog of cases within the judicial system.
Dr Kiiza Besigye said such delays will not deter them from pursuing their legitimate objective of regaining control of the country.

In Kabale—
A total of 474 pupils of St Michaels Primary School Karujanga in Nyinamuronzi ward, Katuna town council in Ndorwa west, Kabale district are struggling to study under trees following the heavy winds that blow off their class roofing last term.
Four class rooms from primary one up to four were blown off by heavy and strong winds that affected the school last term.
According to the school head teacher Purisira Byonanebye, the pupils are now studying under trees because of the disaster that happened to the school. She says that when the incident happened last term, she reported the matter to the office of the Kabale districts Educational officer Kenneth Sabiti Baabo who later directed her to the secretary for education at Kabale district local government Johnson Baguma but has not done anything despite several reminders.
Byonanebye adds says that even the building block is about to fall down because of the rain that has taken long hitting it and that some pupils have now started to drop out of school because of intolerable conditions at school. She therefore calls for immediate consideration before the situation get out of their hands.
The Kabale district Education officer Kenneth Sabiiti Baabo admits that there is a problem at the school but says that they have already prepared reports to other stake holders for internalizing and very soon the problem will be sorted out.
St Michaels primary school Karujanga was founded in 1947 with a total population of 622 pupils.

In Masindi—

Three people have been confirmed dead while 11 others are critically injured following a road accident along Hoima-Fort Portal Road in the new Kikuube District.
The accident which occurred on Thursday evening at Kikuube trading centre in Kiziranfumbi Sub-county, involved a taxi registration number UAV 087Y and a lorry truck registration number UAX 596Q which was loaded with sugarcane.
The taxi was carrying mourners from a burial ceremony in Kyanaisoke Village, Kagadi District.
The deceased have been identified as Tony Ayesiga, the taxi driver, Matthias Bagonza, a produce dealer in Hoima and Immaculate Naiga also a produce dealer in Kiryatete-a periphery of Hoima town.
The injured were rushed to Kikuube health centre, Edpa and Kabalega clinics in Hoima town.
Denis Tumwesige, the Kahoora division speaker who is among the survivors says the taxi was moving at a high speed when he heard a bang and people screaming.
Tumwesige who sustained injuries on the right eye and chest says he only came to his normal senses this morning while at Kabalega clinic.
Canicious Mugisha, the Hoima district traffic officer says the accident occurred at around 7:45pm when the taxi heading to Hoima town rammed into a stationary lorry.
Mugisha who said the taxi was crushed beyond repair, attributes the accident to overspeeding.
He adds that the lorry driver fled after the accident to an unknown destination.
By press time, the bodies were at Hoima hospital mortuary pending for postmortem.
The accident is the latest of a number of them occurring on the road currently under construction.
Driver excitement and lack of clear road signs amid construction works is partly to blame for the increasing accidents on what is commonly referred to as the Trans-Bunyoro Road. The road connects from Kyenjonjo-Kagadi-Hoima-Masindi-Kiryandongo.

In Rukiga—

The heavy down pour on Thursday washed away several gardens and animals in Rwamucucu Sub County in Rukiga district. The roads were also left some roads impassable.
According to the Rwamucucu Sub County LC5 Councilor Eddy Mugisha, the rain started on Thursday afternoon at around 03:20 pm up to 6pm.
He says that it the rain left food crops and banana plantations destroyed. He adds that the rain left Kangondo-Rushebeya and Sindi-Maheru roads impassable which has paralyzed transport in the area.
Mugisha noted that the most affected areas are Kitojo, Nyarurambi, Ibumba, Nyakagabagaba, Burime, parishes saying that a total number of 8 goats have so far been discovered dead and other 10 sheep and goats are still missing.
He said that they are worried on how they are going to survive if the heavy down pour continues in such way thus calling for urgent attention from the disaster and preparedness ministry to see how they can help the people before reaching at the level of Bududa incident where over 50 people died over floods.

In Masindi—

The Masindi Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Longino Bahebwa has instructed secondary school head teachers who have not yet undertaken the presidential directive to train students in patriotism to so do immediately.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com at his office on Friday, Bahebwa revealed that some schools completed the students training in first and second terms. However, he said there are few schools that have up to now failed to adhere to the directive thus advising them to comply before this academic term ends.
Schools across the country were given a period of one year to have adhered.
Bahebwa warned that schools which will not observe the patriotism training directive will be answerable.
On Tuesday, while passing out 700 students of Hoima School of Nursing and Midwifery, the deputy Commissioner at the National Secretariat for Patriotism Clubs in the Office of the President directed all Resident District Commissioners to close schools that fail to embrace patriotism training.

In Bushenyi—
A 29 year old man was on Thursday 18th Oct.2018 been sentenced to 35 year in prison by high court in bushenyi over charges of aggravated defilement.
Prosecution stated that on 8th April 2016 Byaruhanga Patrick a resident of Rukukuru village Buyanja parish Kyeizooba sub county, a casual laborer in Bweranyangi while at Kibare parish performed a sexual act on a three and a half years old child using a finger.
In his defence the convict claimed that by the time of the offence, he was not in the area but had gone to Bushenyi to plead for his money from a certain woman.
However the Mbarara resident judge Dr. Zeija Flavian rubbished all this saying that getting his money from Bushenyi could not take the whole day.
He was convicted of aggravated defilement and sentenced to 35 years in prison.
Dr. Zeija said that the punishment should send a message the general public that a vulnerable girl child needs protection not harassment.
