In Bushenyi—-

A bitter row has erupted in Bushenyi district over location and construction of 1.6billion seed school .The battle field is in Bumbaire Sub County.

The fight is between management and community of Kabushaho secondary school under the Anglican church of Uganda.

Another group is led by the district chairman Jaffari Bassajabalaba and the Bumbaire male district councilor Kizito Mwebesa.

Jaffari and Mwebesa group want the seed school to be located at Kigurisi land in Kiyaga parish Bumbaire sub county whereas the Kabushaho group want the seed school to be located at Kabushaho and in other wards upgrade Kabushaho secondary school into a government school and construct the 1.6 billion infrastructure there.

Kabushaho secondary school was started in Obote ii government but was later closed by then Member of Parliament for Igara east and minister of education then col. Amanya Mushega.

In 2011 the current Member of Parliament for Igara East in collaboration with the West Ankole diocese re-opened the school and since then it has never been grant aided by government. Its the only community secondary school in Bumbaire Sub County.

The Kabushaho group led by the chairman management Taritweba Dan ,the parish priest Rev. Elias Tukamuhebwa and the head teacher Tugume Edson argue that Bumbaire sub county council under min 37/2011resolved that Kabushaho be the only secondary school to be government aided.

They also argue that West Ankole diocese through Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni is willing to provide 8 acres of land that are required to construct a seed school.

In the www.mknewslink.com the district chairman noted that the suitable place for a seed school is Kigurusi. Jaffari denied that he is not being influenced by area councillor Kizito to take the school to Kigurusi which favors him politically.

He also added that he will hold a meeting with community leaders on 24^th Oct.2018 next week to give more views on where to locate the school.

Jaffari noted that he will also meet the bishop of West Ankole diocese before 24^th to harmonise issues related to church of Uganda because some people have already made it a religious matter.

This is being made religious matter Catholics versus Protestants; Kigurusi is catholic dominated while kabushaho is protestant dominated.

Mbarara University of science and Technology (MUST) has introduced a new masters program in clinical pharmacy the first of its kind in the country and in East African region as well.

The Master of Pharmacy in Clinical Pharmacy degree program will add value to roles played by pharmacists in order to progress from merely dispensing drugs and become an integral health giver.

Dr Patrick Ogwanga the head of Pharmacy department at MUST said the absence of pharmacists in hospitals had created a huge gap in who is responsible to the drugs patients take.

He also called for an increase in training of pharmacists so as match with the current population in the country.

Robert Tamukong the visiting Associate professor of clinical pharmacy and coordinator of post graduate training in the department of pharmacy at MUST said no single physician has ever known all the effects of medication which patients experience after having been enrolled on drugs adding that this is the gap that the program is trying to address.

During the launch of the program students were clad in their first white coats as a symbol of the trust being bestowed upon them to carry on the noble tradition of patient-cantered care.
