GOVERNMENT WON’T WITHDRAW YOUR CASE, PROVIDE ENOUGH DEFENSE—KAHINDA REPLIES KAHONDA

The Justice and Constitution affairs minister Maj. Gen Kahinda Otafiire has strongly condemned the way security operatives handle suspects saying that its inhumane. Several security operatives have been on spot for torturing suspects during and after arrest.
Kahinda was on Wednesday speaking at the burial of the slain Mutara Sub County Chairman Jackson Kaginda in Mutara Sub County, Mitooma District.
The minister said that, instead of punishing and killing innocent people, I would rather release a criminal with no sufficient evidence.
He added that such mistakes by citing the case of former Kamwenge Mayor end up costing government in form of compensation.
Kahinda also warned leaders against telling lies and misleading Ugandans.
He was responding to his former opponent and Mitooma MP Capt. Donozio Kahonda, who complained about arresting suspects and releasing them in a short time. Kahonda noted that when it comes to simple cases like his, they take long saying that such things will cause chaos.
Kahinda noted that people should provide sufficient defense in courts to be freed than blaming the government for not withdrawing their cases. He added that whenever a case remains in courts, it means that they have evidence.
On the late Kaginda, Kahinda described him as his friend who could tell him the truth.

He also pledged to fulfill the late Kagindas request for Mutara town council and also promised support to the deceased’s family.
Capt. Kahonda described the late Kaginda as an educationist, developmental, and a friend to many who never hated any one.
Kaginda was on Sunday 21, Killed and hanged in a forest in Ryanshana1, Kashenyi ward Ishaka-Bushenyi Municipality.
