Residents of Katungu Nyakabirizi in Bushenyi- Ishaka municipality with the civil society activists have today afternoon stormed the office of Bushenyi Ishaka municipal town clerk Edward Kiwanuka seeking an answer as to why Katungu Nyamiko is impassible.
Angry citizens led by the speaker Nyakabirizi Mwijukye Mackay and a civil society activist Apollo Lee Kakonge moved from Katungu to the municipal headquarters holding banana fibres looking for the municipal engineer Deus Baingana Nuwagaba and the town clerk so that the two could go and explain to them why their road is in that state.
Residents alleged that instead of murram, the engineer took mud and put it into the road adding that this has made the road impassible thus transport poor.
They wondered how the municipality expects the businesses to run smoothly when vehicles, motorcycles and passengers cannot travel along that road even after the municipality has spent a lot of the tax payers money.
Unfortunately, the town clerk escaped from his office before the residents could reach his office.
They camped at the municipal grounds till the mayor Kamugasha came and attended to them.
Residents, the mayor and police have inspected the road and it has been agreed that tomorrow at 9:00 they should meet at Bushenyi police station so that they can establish how far the file they had registered concerning alleged 336million embezzlement by the municipal engineer ended.
Mayor Kamugasha revealed that he had also warned the engineer to remove the mud and he wondered why they are still there.
