HIGH COURT OPENS SESSION, KIRUHURA TEACHER CONFESSES FOR DEFILING NINE YEAR OLD PUPIL

The High court in Ibanda district has today opened its session at Chief Magistrates court to hear capital offences including murder, defilement and robbery cases.
The resident Judge Ms. Joyce Kavuma has fixed the dates for hearing 40 cases drawn from Ibanda and Kiruhura districts before this year ends. There was no case for females and the inmates who have been on remand for a long time are only males.
During the court hearing, a primary school teacher confessed that he defiled a nine years old pupil from one school in Kazo Town council.
Gelard Mugisha told court that in October 2012, he defiled a then nine years old pupil whose names were with held but asked court to forgive him or give his a reasonable sentence for the crime he did. The case was fixed for hearing on 3.12.2018
In the same court one Robert Luzira, a resident of Migina village in Kazo county, Kiruhura district admitted that he killed her own daughter age three years on 1.12. 2013 and dumped the body into the nearby bush after picking misunderstanding with his wife. Luzira told court that he was under influence of alcohol.
I was under influence of alcohol and I used my gum boots to kick my daughter and fell unconscious . I carried her to the nearest health center but died while in transit. I decided to dump the body into the bush, Luzira told court.
He asked the court to give him a light sentence. He was further remanded up to 3.12.2018.
