MINISTER KAROORO TO START REUSABLE SANITARY PADS FACTORY IN BUSHENYI

Minister for general duties in the office of the Prime Minister Mary Karooro has revealed that on March 8th next year, she will launch a factory to manufacture reusable sanitary pads.
She said that the factory will be constructed in Nyakabirizi division, Bushenyi -Ishaka municipality.
Karooro made the revelation today during a press conference which took place at her home in Bushenyi- Ishaka municipality.
She noted that most girls drop out of school because they cannot afford to buy pads and those still schooling find it rough during their menstrual periods adding that with this initiative, girls will be able to get affordable pads.
She added that with the help of the government aid and lobbying from friends, she will train 3000 boys in skills development such as driving, mechanics and wielding among others beginning January 7th.
Karooro said that she is to start a mini training facility at every sub county in order to assess the performance of the 800 ladies who were trained mid this year.
Karooro revealed that in a strategy to fight malnutrition in Bushenyi, she is to start a factory to make nutritious food stuffs.
She will in April next year install a solar panel at every health centre II that has no access to electricity.
