The Ruhinda county Member of Parliament Dononzio Kahonda has threatened to cancel a contract with TESAN engineering company meant to generate electricity into the county if they continue taking bribes from residents.
Kahonda who was monitoring the electrification project in the subcounties of Kasheshero ,Kabira and Katenga learnt from residents that employees of the company charge them money so that they can have electricity poles planted for them.
Victor komugabe a resident of Nyakasharara cell Kirembe Katenga subcounty said that she was charged ten thousand (10,000) and a bunch of matooke in order to be fixed in the line of receiving an electric pole.
Petto Bomukama the Mitooma district engineer for TESAN engineering company refused to talk to www.mknewslink.com about the accusations by the residents.
Kahonda warned that if this act continues, the company’s contract will be cancelled because this project is fully funded by the government.

In Masindi
Health experts in Masindi district have dismissed allegations on Ebola outbreak in district.
The allegations followed the death of Simon Buhangamaiso who died on the 31st December 2018 after presenting signs of Ebola virus.
Simon Buhangamaiso was buried on the 1st January 2019 in Kikingura village Kitamba Parish Bwijanga Sub County Masindi district by a team of officials from world health organization and Ministry of health.
Before Buhangamaiso died he was rushed to Ntooma health centre II and when the situation intensified he was taken to Kitara medical centre where he died from.
Addressing a press conference yestrday, John Turyagaruka the District Health Officer Masindi explained that according to the tests conducted by Uganda Virus Research Institute Simon died of Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fevers (CCHF) but it was not Ebola at all.
He said it is not Ebola though it also causes bleeding, diarrhea, headache fever, vomit among others.
Turyagaruka added that as health experts they are in contact with the 36 people who were in contact with the deceased before and after he died adding that they have identified them and they are closely monitoring them.

In Mbarara

Police in Mbarara are investigating the circumstance under which 38 year old man committed suicide in Nkokojeru Kamukunzi Division Mbarara Municipality.
The deceased has been identified as Amon Bakiha a resident of Nkokojeru kamukunzi divion Mbarara municipality but borne of Nyarushanje in Rukungiri district.
Samson Kasasira the Rwizi region police spokesperson said that the police visited the scene; the body of the deceased was found hanging in a mango tree.
Kasasira said that according to the parents this is not the first time he tried to commit suicide but was prayed for and got fine.
He noted that the body of the deceased was taken to mortuary at Mbarara regional referral hospital for post mortem and relatives are in preparation for burial arrangement as investigations into the matter are going on.

The board of directors Ngeya Preparatory School has thanked the old students of the school for trying by all means to persuade others to join the school.
This was during an old students reunion organized by the Ngeya old boys and girls association which took place yesterday in the schools dining hall.
The directors noted that its good that old students gather on every 4th January for a reunion so that they can meet and know each other.

Through this association according to directors, the old students have been able to market their school in the entire country and beyond
Dr. Bernard Nuwatuhaire a lecturer at KIU and Ibanda University who was the chief speaker advised the old students to live a successful life.

He noted that if they are to be successful in life they need to have a vision, integrity, be time conscience and above all put their trust in God.
The old students of Ngeya preparatory school thanked the directors for trusting them with the school including hostels where they slept night before the function.

The Kabarole district chairperson Richard Rwabuhinga has asked the ministry of education to have curriculum review if a Ugandan child is to be of importance.
While speaking during the science and technology innovation awareness and outreach for the Ruwenzori sub region workshop organized by the ministry of science, technology and innovation yesterday at Kabarole district head quarters, Rwabuhinga stated that the current curriculum in education system encourages more of theory than practicals.
Rwabuhinga said that the current curriculum has affected many students because it only teaches theory that has made them job seekers than job creators.
He further asked government to equip schools with requisite science apparatus if they are to be well innovated.
Dr. Elioda Twesigye the state minster for science, technology and innovations said that Uganda is set to construct indigenous knowledge institutes in all municipalities in the country within four years to help Ugandans use their skills.
