The long awaited hearing and judgement of the suspected murderer of Bushenyi tycoon John Hedex Rwamutwe failed to take off today because the suspect Kansiime Alvin alias Jakoda changed his plea before Justice DR. Flavian Zeija.
Court led by Flavian Zeija heard that on 3rd may 2017 while in Tankhill Bushenyi, Kansiime beat Rwamutwe using a car jerk.

It also heard that after beating him,Kansiime put him into his car and murdered him from Ibanda district where he dumped his body.
His defence lawyer sought 2 minutes of permission from the judge to speak to his client privately of which the family of the deceased did not agree and thus requested the state attorney to also be part of the conversation.
Family members and relatives who were packed in court to hear the verdict of Kansiime were shocked when the suspect refused to talk court though he had agreed to 10 years during the plea bargaining
The case was adjourned to any convenient date for further hearing. .

In Fort portal
A UPDF soldier in Fort portal municipality has today at around 4:00AM shot three people.
He has been identified as identified as private Tumuhimbise Pius attached to mountain brigade Muhoti Barracks in Kyamukerege village,Nyabukara west division
The injured have been identified as sergent Mugisha Kenneth and two civilians Tuhaise Vincent and Tafuga Kenneth all residents of the same place.
According to the Rwenzori West Police spokes person Lydia Tumushabe,Tumuhimbise who was drunk shot the two civilians on the legs , buttocks and sgt mugisha on the head
Tumushabe said that Sgt. Mugisha was shot when he was trying to disarm the suspect who was very drunk.
Tuhaise and Tafuga have been rushed to Virika Hospital and Sgt. Mugisha to Muhoti Army Health Center III nursing wounds.
Tumuhimbise has been arrested together with a civilian casual laborer identified as Biryomumaisho Joseph who reportedly was with him at Fort portal police.

Kyadondo East Member of Parliament (MP) Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has come out to say that there is no bad blood between him and President Museveni despite all that he has done to him in the past including alleged torture and blocked music concerts.
He said that he and his People Power Movement only want a chance at presidency.
Let the generals know that we are not at war with them or even the president. Yes, we want his seat but not in bad faith. We dont hate him, we have no problem with him, Bobi Wine said.
The singer-turned-politician made the remarks during the burial of Stella Njuba, the daughter of former Cabinet minister and FDC chairperson, Sam Kalega Njuba.

Chairperson of the Parliaments Committee on Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE), Hon Abdu Katuntu has denied allegations that he approached the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, seeking extension of his tenure.
Katuntu, who is also the MP for Bugweri County, dismissed the media claims that he asked Kadaga to stay his office handover up to February 20th, to allow the committee conclude its work, which includes investigation into the sale of seven commercial banks by the Central Bank.
He claimed the idea to extend the committee tenure came from the Speaker herself.
It is not true that we went to the speaker to seek an extension, Katuntu told the Committee as it resumed the Bank of Uganda probe this morning.
I want to put this on record. What happened; like any serious chairman of a committee, we always brief the speaker on the progress of the work we are doing as a committee.
So I went to the speaker and briefed her as the head of this institution, how far we had gone. She inquired whether it would be possible to complete this work before the term expires. I did explain to the speaker that it was not possible, Katuntu said.
The speaker suggested that she would engage the leadership of the opposition and see a way forward. That process of engagement, I am not part of it. I imagine that the speaker will communicate to the house if the engagement happened.
COSASEs two and a half year tenure like other standing committees expires on January 13th.
katuntus comments today, come shortly after the FDC leadership wrote to the speaker, offering some compromises to allow Hon Munyagwa take over the Committee.
Among the compromises, FDCs Chief Whip Hon Semujju Nganda told Kadaga that they had asked Munyagwa where necessary to allow Katuntu come back and finish his investigations, since this is allowed by the rules.

In Kanungu

One person was yesterday morning allegedly kidnapped for ransom in Democratic Republic of Congo.
The victim one Isaya Mbeeta of Munyaga cell Western ward Butogota township was allegedly kidnapped at around 10:00 hours from the garden in DRC.
Mbeeta was alone when two militias armed with one rifle emerged from the bush, overpowered him and took him inside the bush and started demanding for 2 million UGX.
He is said to have left his home very early in the morning at around 05:00 hours.
Efforts by forces to get him rescued are being made.

The commencement of hearing of by-election petition of Sheema municipality at Mbarara high court by FDCs Virginia Mugyenyi Plan,was yesterday flopped as the judge was absent.
Seating judge justice Flavian Zeija said that, Justice Dr. Andrew Bashaija who is handling the petition, was absent.
Justice Zeija then adjourned the case to 9th Wednesday, 2019 for further hearing.
After court session, Virginia told www.mknewslink.com that she has gathered enough evidence, noting that, she will win the case.
