Thousands of Christians from Roman Catholic Church in Mbarara municipality have today joined the rest of the world to celebrate Good Friday to mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
The Christians led by Rev. Father Deus Twesigyomwe the pastoral coordinator Mbarara Arch diocese walked over six kilometers as they made various prayers at different stations.
They started their journey from Nyamityobora Catholic spiritual center for Teenagers as they carried the main wooden cross as a way of commemorating the suffering and pain which Jesus Christ went through.
In a message Rev. Father Stephen Agume the Curate at Uganda Martyrs parish appealed to God for guidance so that Ugandans vote for the right leaders in the 2021 General elections who will promote peace in the country.

In Bushenyi—

A section of concerned voters in Kyamuhunga Town Council in Bushenyi District have petitioned the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah against a move to create a municipality out of Kyamuhunga, Bitooma Town Councils and Kyamuhunga Sub County.

On March 21, 2019, Bushenyi District Local Council passed a resolution to create a municipality out of Bitooma Town Council, Kyamuhunga Town Council and Kyamuhunga Sub-county which would be called Bitooma-Kyamuhunga Municipality.
A team of more than 10 petitioners led by Hamadhi Midragi, Denis Owasigireho, Hillary Muhereza, and Andrew Kabazookye told the Deputy Speaker that they are against the proposal by the District Council which is greatly influenced by Igara West MP, Raphael Magyezi.

The petitioners said the decision should be reversed by Parliament in case it is tabled in the House since it has been developed in bad faith and it is not in the interest of the residents.

They said that the three entities of Bitooma Town Council, Kyamuhunga Town Council and Kyamuhunga Sub County do not have the legal requirements and conditions for the attainment of Municipality status.

Midragi said that there is no structural plan for the proposed municipality as it is a prerequisite for the attainment of a municipality and the proposed municipality cannot support itself financially in terms of service delivery which will pose a burden on the current population.

Denis Owastigireho said that the move is spearheaded by Raphael Magyezi the MP for Igara West who wants a safe haven for his future political ambitions.www.mknewslink.com a greater western Uganda news website

Police in Mitooma district are holding a 26-year-old man for allegedly killing a 62 year old woman accused her of practicing witchcraft
The gruesome incident occurred on Wednesday in Ngarama village Nyakizinga parish Nyakizinga sub county Mitooma district.
The suspect Fred Rwigyema is said to have killed Angelina Kyomukama 62, a resident of the same area accusing her of practicing witchcraft.
According to the greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, Martial Tumusiime, Rwigyema armed with machete found Kyomukama while attending to her garden and killed her.
After the gruesome incident, Rwigyema went on run and he was apprehended by police in Mbarara trying to escape.

Mr. Male Mabirizi, the main petitioner against the age limit act, has vowed to continue the war against bad laws in the country.
The Supreme Court on Thursday, in 4-3 majority ruling, maintained the Constitutional Court ruling that the age limit law was passed constitutionally, effectively allowing President Museveni to rule for life.
Mr. Mabirizi said that there is a big war ahead and urged Ugandans to get ready for it.
I have not lost. Theres a big war were fighting. Viewers think weve lost but weve lost a battle but the war continues, said Mr. Mabirizi while appearing on NBS TV political talk show, Frontline on Thursday evening.
DP president Norbert Mao and FDC vice president for eastern region Salaamu Musumba praised Mabirizis tenacity.
“It is good we have Male Mabirizi here, we need active citizenship. Your presence here is a clear message for people not to sleep on their rights. Everyone can do something,” said Mr. Mao.
“I heard the judge lecturing you (Mabirizi) about your qualifications but to me, the highest level of qualification is citizenship. I had very low expectations. Its about our commitment as the so-called opposition to have a peaceful process. From now, the message should be clear that none of us is planning violence. Weve chosen a peaceful path. It is not over until its over. Theres a court higher than the Supreme court, the Peoples Court,” he added.
“As to whether parliament can redeem its image, its totally in their hands. If youre to be a peoples house, stop looking at parliament as a place for the Executives. Either MPs take back parliament or we the people come and take it back.
There are certain things that can happen in an institution that can diminish or make it, parliament is a peoples house. These days, security officers even have the temerity to ask you what your work is at the parliament, he said.
Ms. Musumba added: “Judging by the parliaments Ive observed, the integrity of our 10th parliament is in question.
Theyre duty bound to reclaim the title of honourable because right now theyre not. We only have one parliament, which is pushing us to desperately look for leadership from them.”
The Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre, Mr. Ofwono Opondo, however, chose to focus on the opposition MPs who he said made mistakes in the process leading up to the enactment of the act.
I agree with Justice Tumwesigye and the rest of the judges who found that there was violence in parliament during the #AgeLimitBill. My expectation is that MPs will own up to their mistakes, he said.

Church of Uganda Archbishop Stanley Ntagali has lashed out at parents for neglecting their children.
In his Easter message delivered on Thursday, Archbishop Ntagali said many parents are giving the excuse of work to abandon their own children.
“Too many parents leave the house before the children are awake and return home after they are asleep. Children are not being raised by their parents, but are being raised by house helpers who may not share your values. Children get concerned and think they are the ones who have caused their parents to neglect them. But, that is not true. Children have not done anything wrong. It is their parents who have chosen their own selfish interests and neglected their children,” he said.
The archbishop also lashed at parents who defile minors.
“We can now exercise self-control as God designed us to do when he made us in his image. We are no longer like animals that follow only our instincts and desires,” he said.
He warned that parents no longer have to be enslaved to their selfish decisions saying that parents should emulate Jesus death and resurrection, get the power to exercise self-control since they are no longer slaves to sexual instincts and desires.
He said that the Church of Uganda has declared 2019 to be the Year of Children as a move to advocate for the children.
