Keirere Green Africa Agency KEGRA has today in conjunction with an American volunteer Patricia Brown joined the rest of the world to celebrate World Malaria Day that is commemorated on 25th April of every year.

The function was today 25th April 2019 organized at Bushenyi Play ground in Bushenyi town under the theme “Bushenyi fights the bite” aimed at sensitizing people on how they can avoid and prevent malaria to achieve a malaria free region.

Speaking to www.mknewslink.com, Patricia learnt that Malaria can effect a child every day in the world.

She advised the public to always sleep under treated mosquito nets, keep away from night hours, clearing bushes around their homes and covering the cleared area with soil to prevent mosquito breeding spots,wearing long sleeved clothes at night among others.

At the same function, there was a football matches between students from schools and locals plus giving out of prizes to the teachers that escorted their students.

Commercial Court has postponed the day it will give its ruling on the case involving city tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia and attorneys from Lule & Sebalu advocates, from Wednesday, April 24 to Monday April 29, 2019.
The new development was communicated to all parties who were eagerly waiting in court by Justice Gadenya Wolimbwa who notified them that the ruling was ready.
Sudhir in a suit filed in December 2017 argues that Sebalu and Lule Advocates shouldnt be representing BoU and Dfcu bank as this amounts to conflict of interest as the law firm already represented Crane Management Services which is part of the Ruparelia Group the holding company of former Crane Bank Limited.
Crane Management Services sued Dfcu bank demanding rental arrears amounting to Shs2.9 billion and US $385,728.54 in respect of tenancies of suit properties that were formally owned by Crane Bank Limited (CBL).
Ruparelia also wants the court to issue a permanent injunction, restraining Sebalu & Lule Advocates from appearing as defence counsel for dfcu bank in the other court case that the two principals are battling out.
In December 2017, the Commercial disqualified Masembe and Mpanga from the Sh397 billion Sudhir Ruparelias case against Bank of Uganda (BoU), citing conflict of interest.
In his ruling delivered on December 21, 2017, Wangutusi stated that David Mpanga of A.F. Mpanga Advocates and Timothy Masembe of MMAKS Advocates acted in violation of the Advocates regulations.
Section 4 of the regulation says that an advocate shall not accept instructions from any person in respect of a contentious or non-contentious matter if the matter involves a former client and the advocate as a result of acting for the former client is aware of any facts which may be prejudicial to the client in that matter.
Court documents indicate that when Dfcu Bank took over the assets and liabilities of Crane Bank, it also took over occupation and use of the said rented properties from which the real estate company wants to recover accumulated rent arrears from Dfcu bank.
Some of the properties cited include; Crane Bank branches at plot 9 on Market Street, plot 1-13, Jinja Road, plot 47, Republic Road-Mbale, Speke Hotel (1996), Pot 19 Cooper Road (Crane Plaza), plot 20, Kampala Road Crane Bank ATM.

Greater Bushenyi police head quarters have been in darkness for now a month after UMEME disconnected their power supply.
According to the regional police commamder Eddie Sserunjoji the issue of power blackout at Bushenyi police station has been on for the last one month.
Asked about the reason for the disconnection, the RPC advised www.mknewslink.com to ask UMEME but not him adding that he is just a power user not supplier.
Sources from people who visit police to report cases at night told www.mknewslink.com that they face it rough because the police officers use candles at the counter and other offices.
Efforts to get the comment from UMEME manager and communications officer for greater Bushenyi were futile.

In Mubende

Uganda National Roads Authority has embarked on a peaceful evacuation of people operating on road reserves as a way of maintaining roads.

Many people have been encroaching on road reserves country wide using them for business purposes and others cultivating thus spoiling drainage systems and culverts.

During a stakeholders engagement meeting held in Mubende town, the head of Operations at UNRA Robert Tumwine said that the law provides for the business community to apply for these reserves before putting them to use but many people encroach on these reserves without permission.

Tumwine said that many roads in Mubende have been
encroached on but all these users are to be served with eviction
notice in 30 days and failure to comply UNRA will employ forceful
means.

Mubende Municipal Council authorities have for long raised complaints
to UNRA over road reserves in town that have been turned into
business centers like garage, parking place, washing bays.

However , the business community pinned UNRA for keeping a deaf ear even when they approached their offices applying for these reserves.

Simon Vvuubi Mukiibi of Simons Food Mat at Mubende-Kampala Highway said that the UNRA is likely to be sued because most of the traders secured licences from Mubende Town Council before elevating to a municipal status.

In Mbarara
President Museveni has ordered for the establishment of civil construction units in the ministry of education and sports to build school classrooms and teachers staff houses cheaply than hiring expensive private contractors.
The president said that majority of private contractors use borrowed money and hired construction equipment which compels them to do less work.
He was speaking during centenary celebrations at Mbarara Junior primary school where he laid a foundation stone for the construction of a vocation skills training wing.
He commended religious institutions for starting up schools that have contributed greatly to development of education in the country.
Museveni later on laid a foundation stone for the construction of the Muslim hospital and also attended the inauguration of Sheikh Mukwaya Abdulla the new district Khadi Mbarara.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Mufti of Uganda Ramathan Mubaje who warned Muslims to stop fighting each other in mosques which is regarded a holy place.
He urged them to leave in harmony, love each another and respect government leaders if they are to be true Muslims in this country.

In Kanungu
Two pupils of Rukarara primary school who were kidnapped by
suspected gunmen while in a banana plantation in Democratic Republic
of Congo-DRC have been released after the family members paid a ransom of 3.5 million shillings.

The victims Ronald Niwagaba aged 18 and Dan Tweheyo, 16both
primary seven pupils at Rukarara primary school and residents of Nyabirehe village in Kihembe parish, Kanyantorogo Sub
County, Kanungu district. Kanyantorogo borders DRC were released last evening.

The two were kidnapped on Monday evening at around 5:00pm at Ntarama cell, Buganza parish in Binza sub county Rushuro district in the
Democratic Republic of Congo when they were in their uncle’s banana
plantation with other workers.
The kidnappers later used a Ugandan MTN number to call him demanding 3000 us dollars as ransom to release the victims according to the uncle.

The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed that the victims were released last evening after the family paid a ransom of 3.5 million shillings.
Maate said that however police will continue to hunt for the suspects.
