Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development [PIBID]will turn into a company o 30th June 2019 transiting from a presidential initiative project to a company owned by government.
This was revealed by the executive director of PIBID Rev.Dr.Florence Isabirye Muranga during the organizations Labour Day celebrations held today at the factory in Nyaruzinga Bushenyi District.
She noted that PIBID could not do business because it was a project not a company and therefore after receiving many orders for Banana floor, biscuits extra, They decided to register PIBID as a company called Banana Industrial Research and Development Centre(BIRDC).

The celebration started by a band marching through Bushenyi Town up to the factory. Prayers and speeches then followed.
The function was presided over by Bushenyi RDC Jolly Tibemanya.
He argued the staffs to be patriotic not to mind about tribe, religion and at most love their country Uganda.
Every year, PIBID celebrates Labour Day by carrying out prayers and march with band in Bushenyi Town.

Police in Kampala have arrested three members of Kampala Arcades Traders’ Association who on Wednesday demonstrated against the national Labour Day celebrations in Agago District in northern Uganda.
The traders claimed that it is not necessary for Ugandans to celebrate the day because they are chocking on high taxes and exorbitant rental fees which has led many business people to close shop.
Police deployed heavily in downtown Kampala to suppress the strike.
Meanwhile, President Museveni in his Labour Day speech in Agago said that for an economy to gain strength, it has to rely on strong private and business sector.
“The United States of America is the richest country, not because of its leaders but because of the business people. Leaders in the US are seasonal, in four years they are looking for a new leader, just playing around,” Mr Museveni said.
The President added that Africa needs to wake up and know that the strength of their respective economies is the private sector.
The president also launched the Employment Diagnostic Analysis Report.
However, Mr Museveni reiterated the need for commercial farming as one of the ways of creating more jobs and fighting unemployment in Uganda.
“Once you engage in commercial farming, you create jobs internally on top of what the foreigners are bringing,” Mr Museveni said.

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has ordered for the suspension of top NBS Television editors, citing a breach of minimum broadcasting standards.
The UCC, in a Tuesday, April 30 letter seen by www.mknewslink.com directed the Kamwokya based station to suspend the head of news Ms. Joyce Bagala, the head of programmes and the producer of the live broadcast pending investigations.
in exercise its mandate under sections 5(1)0), 31 and 45 of the Uganda Communications Act 2013, the Commission has commenced full investigations to determine whether/or not the manner in which NBS Television presents its live broadcasts and news stories is in accordance with the expected standards and codes of ethics of Journalism, a letter from the regulator to the station management signed by UCC Executive Director Mr. Godfrey Mutabazi reads in part.
The suspension is believed to have stemmed from live coverage of events that included acts of violence as police and people power supporters were embroiled in running battles.
According to the UCC, the minimum broadcasting standards prohibit, among other things, broadcast of content that promotes violence and ethnic prejudice, is likely to create public insecurity or violence and is biased.
The regulator noted that in view of the fact that NBS Television has previously been warned about similar concerns; the station has been directed key among others immediately to suspend the Producer, Head of News and Head of Programmes pending conclusion of the investigations.
That NBS Television should within three (3) days from the date hereof submit to the Commission the names, particulars, and qualifications of the subject office holders, reads that letter.
NBS has also been directed to submit to the Commission recordings of all live programs and news bulletins aired on the 29th of April 2019.
The television station has also been asked by UCC to submit within 3 days a copy of the subject show.
Failure to obey the directive, Mr. Mutabazi said, The Commission shall not hesitate to take further enforcement measures including suspension of NBS Televisions broadcast license.
it should be noted the commission had previously warned media houses against broadcasting content that promotes violence, ethnical prejudice, and immorality.
A similar directive has gone out to BBS TV, Simba FM, Radio Sapientia, Salt TV, NTV Uganda, Pearl FM, NTV, Kingdom TV, CSB FM, Capital FM, Bukedde TV, Best FM, and Akaboozi Radio
A number of radio stations have been affected because of breaching broadcasting standards, the most recent being Kanungu Broadcasting Services, where a radio presenter and a producer were suspended on orders of UCC.

In Kabale—-

Police in Kabale are investigating circumstances under which an unidentified young boy found floating on water died.
The body of a boy estimated to be between 12 to 16 years was found floating on water in river Kiruruma in Omwibale cell Rushaki ward Southern division Kabale municipality on morning of 30/04/19.

Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesperson said that the body was retieved by police after they were tipped by the area LCI chairperson Wilbrode Tumwesigyire.

He added that the decomposing body was taken to Kabale regional referral hospital for postmortem to establish the likely cause of death.

Police is calling upon anybody missing his son to visit the hospital mortuary for identification so that the body is taken for decent burial.

In Kisoro—

Police in Kisoro are investigating circumstances under which two men of the same parish aged 28 and 46 years were murdered on the night of 28th April 2019.
The deceased have been identified as Mugisha Stuart 28years a resident of Kiburara village, Gisorora parish,and Habarurema Silvani 46years resident of Kanyabukungu village, Gisorora parish, Nyakabande sub county kisoro
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi region police mouth piece,Mugisha was found lying unconscious alongside Mutolere road with a broken leg and bruises on the body while Habarurema was found lying unconscious in Nyakabande trading center in the morning of 29/4/2019 at 06:00 hours.
Maate revealed that both the deceased were rushed to Mutolere hospital where they died hours later.
Police visited both scenes, postmortem were done on the bodies and inquires to establish circumstances that led to their death are underway.

In Rukungiri

Police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances that led to the death of a 27 year old man in Kebisoni town council.

The deceased Ibrahim Kirenzi of Kakyinga cell central ward of Kebisoni town council was yesterday allegedly stoned by his biological brother Leo Kwatireryo 25 of the same village after they developed misunderstandings over a bunch of matooke.

In the process the deceased was injured, collapsed and was rushed Tonyakibale hospital and later referred to Mbarara regional referral hospital where he succumbed to the injury.

Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed the incident saying the police visited the area and arrested two people.

He said the deceaseds mother Serina Gumisiriza 70 and the deceaseds brother Mark Balyejusa 30 are currently in police custody for giving police wrong information about the incident.

He also revealed that efforts to apprehend the key suspect who is on the run, is currently on going.
