The Kigezi region Veterans Association Chairperson Caleb Turyamutunga has come under fire from greater Kabale veterans for allegedly selling off the associations house.
In 1994, veterans in Kigezi region under their umbrella association contributed shillings 5000 each towards the construction of a rental house in Kazigizigi village, Karubanda ward in Kitumba Sub county Kabale district with an aim of generating income.
They also appealed to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for help who later gave them 100 iron sheets towards the roofing. They constructed a four room house and started collecting shillings 200,000 as monthly
rental fee.
However, veterans led by the Chairperson of Rukiga Veterans Farmers Association Patrick Niwagaba and Johnson Byamugisha Sunday argue that ever since they constructed the house, they have never benefited from the money collected from the house in form of rent.
They added that what angers them most is that they received information indicating that Turyamutunga sold the house and the land.
Veterans want top security officials to intervene and save their house from being sold and compel Turyamutunga to explain whereabouts of the rental fees collected for all those years.
