In Bushenyi

Police in Bushenyi are detaining an 18years old man in its custody on charges of killing his college over a woman.

Simeo Mubanginzi age 18 a resident of Burimbi Nkanga Nyabubare Sub County allegedly used a spear and stubbed Niwagaba Ramathan aged 21 of the same village in the chest to death.

Mubangizi and Niwagaba were fighting for a woman identified as Grace Mbabazi aged 51 also from the same residence at her home.

The incident happened on 1^st June 2019 at night.

According to greater Bushenyi police spokes person Martial Tumusiime, the two have been on race for this old woman for a couple of months till one lynched another.

As am posting this story, Simeo is currently detained at Bushenyi police station as investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile the same police are investigating circumstances under which a boda boda rider in Rwentuha town Council Bushenyi district was killed in the same night and his motor cycle taken.

The deceased was identified as Levi Arinaitwe allias Maganya 36 years old a resident of Nkoni Kararo Kyeizoba Sub County who have been driving a motor cycle registration number UEL 116S in Rwentuha town council.

According to the police, the body of the deceased was thrown in the nearby farm.

The chair man Lc1 Rwentuha John Kasaburi has requested boda boda riders to stop riding at night or always move two if this vice is to stop.

On the other hand other two people identified as Tinka Eliab and Godfrey Kabateyo aged 42 all residents of Kijumo village Kabare parish Kakanju sub county Bushenyi are also detained by police over murder.

According to greater Bushenyi police spokes person Edie Martial Tumusiime, the two suspects allegedly killed John Kabireho 42 years a resident of the same area on 1^st June 2019 at night in a bar.

It is said that the three were fighting in the bar which resulted into the death of one of them.

Martial added that the two are currently detained in their custody as investigations are still on ongoing.

Sp Martial condemned the act of killing each other in Bushenyi district and advised all people to be watchful so it can desist.

In Rukiga

One person died on spot and another one seriously injured in a motor accident that happened along Muhanga- Kyogo road in Rukiga district yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Peter Kakuru 28, a resident of Nyakina cell Kyabuhangwa parish in  Kamwezi sub county Rukiga district while Michael Byamukama 35, a resident of Rwakikara cell  in  Muhanga town council Rukiga district sustained several injuries.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate, the
accident occurred on Saturday at around 10:30am at Nyamabare cell along Muhanga- Kyogo road.

According to Maate, the accident occurred when two motor cycles Reg.No UEV 010Z Bajaj and UEM 918U Bajaj lost control from their riders (Kakuru and Byamukama) and collided together.

He said that Kakuru died on spot while Byamukama was instantly rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.

Maate blamed the accident to Byamukama who was driving recklessly, left his side and rammed into Kakuru’s motor cycle.

Investigations are underway to establish the exact cause of the accident.

In Ibanda

Residents of Bufunda, Kagongo and Bisheeshe divisions in Ibanda Municipality, Ibanda district and those in Kamwenge district started seeing brighter nights after Umeme limited company, a power distribution extended power lines in the areas.

According to the Manager Ibanda of branch Mr. George Bwasiisi, the government earmarked electricity to the users in Ibanda and Kamwenge districts.

Over 7000 customers have registered their wishes to Umeme Company applying for the services nearer their residents to light their houses garages, Bars, Lodges, Boarding schools and coffee industries in the areas.

“The number of consumers depends on those who will show interests and only the costs they will meet when connecting to their houses and commercial buildings,” Mr. Bwasiisi told www.mknewslink.com during the interview.

He lauded government for opening Ibanda-Kamwenge power lines for the project.

Mr. Bwasiisi warned the residents against vandalism and the theft of electricity equipments like wires which are installed by Umeme Company.

He appeals to community and local leaders to report broken poles, conductors as well as sagging wires which are dangerous to people who travel under them.

“We need to be very careful when we are handling electrical appliances for the safety of our lives” He said.

Speaking to www.mknewslink.com Mr. Ronald Mugisha from Kyaruhanga ward said that residents in Ibanda district have been always depending on lanterns for many years just using Kerosene paraffin and firewood to cook their meals.

He noted that the smoke badly affects the eyes of pupils and old age people as lanterns develop soot and air pollution.

Mr. Mugisha explained that several people started using mental lanterns, lamps during colonial regime consuming paraffin.

Mohamed Salah was off injured within 30 minutes of last year’s Champions League final but celebrating inside two minutes of this one.

The last props of the opening ceremony were not even down the tunnel when Salah lashed his penalty past Hugo Lloris before lingering to show his joy in front of the Tottenham fans, long after his team-mates had trundled away.

Salah has history with Spurs supporters; largely on account of being the main threat to Harry Kane winning the Golden Boot in recent seasons, but perhaps there was more to why he wanted to hang on the moment.

After all, it was on this stage last year, with club football’s biggest prize in sight, that Salah saw his final ended early by a tug from Sergio Ramos and a tumble on his shoulder. 

Taken off after half an hour, Salah lay in hospital, helpless while Liverpool were beaten 3-1 by Real Madrid and then he struggled at the World Cup, lacking sharpness as Egypt were knocked out without a victory. 

“Before the game, I looked at a picture of last year and we were so disappointed to lose the final,” Salah said on Saturday night.

“I was very disappointed after that injury, I went off after 30 minutes and we lost the game. It motivated me to win today. When you know how it feels to lose, you say to yourself ‘Let’s go and win that’.”

Salah had been less explosive in recent months, perhaps because opponents are warier, or perhaps just because sustaining those levels of performance was always going to be a tall order. 

But in many ways this final became Salah’s final, as soon as Moussa Sissoko thrust his arm out to point to a team-mate and Sadio Mane’s cross struck him after 23 seconds. 

At the end, as Liverpool’s fans behind him roared, plumes of red filling the air, Salah arched his neck back and looked to the sky.

“I think our game is more mental,” he said. “You have to believe in yourself and you can see the players believed in themselves tonight.

“Everything happens for a reason and last year when we lost the final, I think we were meant to come back and win it this time.”

When he was growing up in Nagrig, a small farming town in Egypt, Salah would play video games and invariably choose Liverpool as his club. Now 26, he lifts his most prestigious trophy with them too, and the only one, other than a pair of Swiss Super League titles with Basel.

For all his individual accolades, and there are many, Salah now has a concrete reward to match his talent and for this Liverpool side too, who lost the Premier League title by one point, arguably to the most complete team the competition has ever seen. 

“If I had a choice between the Champions League and the Golden Boot, then of course it would be the Champions League, no doubt the Champions League,” Salah said before last year’s final. 

Salah beat Kane to the Golden Boot then and this year too, Tottenham’s striker deprived of the last six weeks of the season due to the ankle injury that made him a doubt even to play here. 

Kane started but looked like a striker in his first match in almost two months and Salah was guilty of indecision himself, perhaps the three-week break leaving both these teams slightly jaded and short of zip.

He squared up Jan Vertonghen in the box but was unable to nip by, he attempted a flick to Mane but it fell short. He volleyed over from the edge of the area, moments after seeing Danny Rose head away off his foot at the back post.

If Salah was below-par so were Liverpool but it mattered little when the final whistle blew.

Divock Origi’s late strike had wrapped up a 2-0 victory, Liverpool’s sixth European Cup and for Salah, redemption.
