Mitooma town clerk Lawrence Mbabazi has been arrested for allegedly beating a hotel waiter over food bill.

It is alleged that Lawrence while at Karo hotel in Ishaka town beat up Shallon Nabaasa a waiter when she asked him to pay Ugx30,000 for the food he had eaten.

According to the Hotel Manager Christopher Ntambi, the town clerk came with two friends among them his girlfriend, took lunch and before they left, his home wife abruptly showed up, so they started fighting going outside which prompted the waiter to follow them asking for her money and in a scuffle instead of paying he beat her up.

The Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SP Martial Tumusiime told www.mknewslink.com that the case was registered at Ishaka police station and charged with obtaining money by false pretense under file CRB Ishaka 0900/2019.

In Fort portal

Police in Fort portal have decried over lack of enough stationery that has hindered them perform their duties.

Police officers who talked to www.mknewslink.com  on condition of anonymity said that they lack papers to register cases, bond and other office work.

The officers disclosed that that they have reached an extent of putting in their own money to buy papers so that they work on complainants.

Sometimes complainants are asked to photocopy documents on their own or give money to some officers which they said has contributed to corruption at police.

The police officers have further disclosed that this problem has been overdue for about two years making things worse.

However, the acting police spokes person Rwenzori West Solomon Mugisa has refuted the allegations.

Mugisa has disclosed that the department of logistics distributes stationery to every police station at every quarter of the year which is given to every office including lock registers, stationery diary books, acknowledgment prisoners properties among others.

However,  Mugisa noted that sometimes the papers are not enough due to high number of complainants that come to police and sometimes papers get finished before the end of the quarter.

The Uganda police are embarking on the recruitment of more policemen country wide very soon.

The recruitment team is going to move throughout the country and it will recruit probation police constables.

According to the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SP Martial Tumusiime, the total number of candidates required will be 4500 and these include the 500 learner assistant inspectors of police.

Martial said that assistant inspectors should hold diploma with science related subjects with the bias in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics while the probation constables will require UCE certificates with 5 credits and mathematics inclusive.

 He added that they also need hand written applications accompanied with originals and photocopies of academic documents, ID of attended institutions, and passport photos and their commendation letters from LcI, II, III, plus RDC from the respective districts.

SP Martial added that the documents will be delivered to the recruitment centres on the day of recruitment where they will also conduct physical exercises by running.

He cautioned interested candidates against impersonation and presentation of forged documents/testimonials which may lead to arrest and prosecution in the courts of law.

In Greater Bushenyi Region, recruitment will start on 29^th this month with Mitooma district followed by Bushenyi on 30^th,^, Sheema on 31st, Buhweju on 1^st August and Rubirizi on 2nd.

Speaking to www.mknewslink.com SP Martial has asked any interested candidates to prepare themselves, organize their documents and appear smartly dressed on the relevant days of recruitment.

The outgoing chairman Mbarara University of Science and Technology Dr Ben Mbonye has told www.mknewslink.com   that the report to renew the contract of the chancellor or fire him is with Prof. Emenyu the University Chancellor.

The outgoing University council put the committee chaired by Eddy God to decide the fate of the vice chancellor one Celestine Obua.

According to reports, the committee concluded its work and handed over the report to the chancellor Emenyu.

Dr. Ben Mbonye the University council Chairman who retired last week confirmed to www.mknewslink.com  that when the problem of time emerges, they can have acting vice chancellor to solve the problem of virtue.

Currently, the staff at MUST is on strike for the third time protesting against the vice chancellor and secretary Melchior Byaruhanga.

The staff accuse the two of hard leadership and corruption.
