In Bushenyi

Police in Bushenyi district are investigating circumstances under which a boda boda cyclist was killed in Bugomora cell, Ishaka Division, Bushenyi district.

Residents have identified the deceased as Junior Namanya a resident of Kirambi cell, Ijumo parish in Mitooma district.

It is alleged that Namanya was killed by suspected iron bar hit men on Friday 8th November 2019 night and thrown into a nearby small forest. The residents discovered his body today morning and alerted police

The greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, SP Martial Tumusiime confirmed the incidence adding that police had already visited the scene.

Tumusiime said he is yet to give more details about the incidence.

The body of the deceased was taken to Kitagata hospital mortuary for postmortem.

In Mbarara

The UPDF yesterday officially launched the reserve forces mobilization and documentation exercise.

Major Charles Kabona the spokesperson of the 2^nd division Mankeke in Mbarara said that the exercise is aimed at mobilizing, documenting of the reserved forces, which include UPDF veterans, auxiliary forces, crime preventers  during its military operations in western Uganda and other region such that their details can be captured.

Major Kabona said that invited were all security heads in the districts of southwestern Uganda as they will be the ones heading the exercise and this launch was held at.

While launching this exerice at Lakeview hotel in Mbarara town, Lt general Charles Otema the UPDF commander of reserved forces said that the reserved forces are the people who have experience in security matter calling up the security heads to utilize them in providing information.

The director of national leadership institute Kyakwanzi Brig Kasule Kyomukama challenged Crime preventers and other security organs to always provide information about the impending crimes rather than waiting to report after the crime has happened.

He noted that the information about the crime provided after the crime has taken place is a sign of weakness.

In Rubanda

Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema, the Rubanda District Chairman has cried to the Government to officially declare Rubanda district as a hard to reach area in Uganda  

The newly created district located in southwestern Uganda was curved out of Kabale district in the year 2016.

The district is very hilly and her biggest part is surrounded by Ecuya forest and Bwindi National Park.

Speaking to www.mknewslink.com  after a district budget conference at district headquarters, Biryabarema said that many civil servants shun the district whenever appointed there, saying the place is so hard to reach and remote.

Biryabarema said that if Rubanda was considered a hard to reach, civil servants would get extra benefits of hard to reach districts, which other districts don’t access thus luring them to live and work in Rubanda.

Wilberforce Korugyendo, the Rubanda district planner during the budget conference revealed that the district wasn’t performing to expectations as it lacks heads of departments at the district.

Korugyendo cited out lack of the District Health Officer (DHO), District Internal Auditor, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, District Engineer.

He said most civil servants at the district are acting, due to the fact that they have advertised for the jobs and failed to get those to occupy them.

It’s alleged that most of the houses in Rubanda town council that host the district headquarters are rented between Shs 50,000 and Shs 80,000 since they are reportedly of poor quality.

Rubanda was recently ranked among the worst performing districts in the country.
