Blood donors and patients in Bushenyi district have been advised to always demand for receipts whenever asked to pay money for blood transfusion in government hospitals.
This call was made by Gideon Kiiza the blood bank driver in Red Cross Bushenyi district while at a one day blood donation exercise held at Valley University of science and technology in Bushenyi district organized by valley university guild council in partnership with Uganda Red Cross society.
Kiiza said that some doctors are naturally businessmen and that is why they see everything in monetary terms hence asking patients money for blood which would be for free.
He added that any patient who gets asked to buy blood in a government hospital should ask for receipt because blood is donated for free to save lives.
Kiiza also appealed to people to donate blood because there is always a problem of blood shortage especially in Christmas period
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com reporter, Dr. Enos Rwasheema the vice chancellor Valley University of Science and technology said they have done the donation exercise as a way of giving back to the community because people need blood.
