In Rubanda

One person has perished in a motorcycle accident along Kabale-Kisoro in Rubanda district.

The accident occurred when Dismus Turyahebwa 20 years  who was riding motorcycle Reg No .UES 062C Bajaj red from Hakakondogoro to Igomanda failed to negotiate a corner at Hamuko cell .

The motor cycle fell on his head killing him on spot.

It is alleged that the accident occurred in the night of 27/112019 at unknown time. The body was discovered early morning of (Thursday) 28/11/20 19.

By the time of publication, police had already visited the scene and the motorcycle was taken to Rubanda police station pending inspection.

Turyahebwa was a resident of Rutooma cell, Kashenyi parish Bubaare sub county Rubanda District

The Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson Elly Maate has confirmed the incidence saying that inquiries are still underway.

In Kabale

Police in Kabale have impounded a bus that was carrying over 70 suspected illegal immigrants from the DR Congo into Uganda.

The Kabale District Police Commander Brian Ampeire said that the suspected illegal immigrants arrested today 28^th Nov. at around 10 am in Kabale included 48 women, 20 children and about 10 men.

He noted that immigrants were heading to Kampala travelling in Bismarkan bus Reg. No.UAV 118U.

He added that they cannot take the matter lightly because it might be a security threat to the country.

He also said that if the suspects are found to be illegal immigrants, they shall be prosecuted in courts of law.

In Bushenyi

The Bushenyi Chief Magistrate Court has issued a criminal summon against a Kabwohe Health Centre IV doctor one Dr.Davis Asiimwe who assaulted a TV West journalist for reporting a story about him.

Her worship Jane Mugara who on Thurs.28^th Nov. 2019 presided over the court session issued a criminal summon document on grounds that the defendant Dr. Asiimwe refused to appear in court.

Meanwhile, the Magistrate also adjourned till 9^th Jan.2020 when the hearing of the same case will take place.

Sheikh Abdurhatif, a vision group journalist was assaulted by Dr. Davis Asiimwe in charge for Kabwohe Health Centre IV for reporting a story saying that he (Dr. Asiimwe) allegedly gave ARVS to a patient one Faridah Kiconco when she was not HIV positive.

According to reliable sources, Dr. Asiimwe tested Kiconco HIV positive in 2011 and later in 2017 she was tested HIV negative.

It is alleged that the ARVS she used to take made her suffer to an extent of changing color plus abdominal pain all the time.

Dr. Davis Asiimwe was on Nov 12th last year forcefully dragged to court after missing three times to appear to hear same charges against him.

In Mitooma

The minister for justice and constitution Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafire has hit back at the words of his opponent and the MP Ruhinda county Rt. Capt. Dononzio Kahonda.

Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire lost to Kahonda in the 2015 NRM primary elections.

Recently, Rt. Capt. Dononzio Kahonda held a thanksgiving where the speaker of Parliament Hon Rebecca Kadaga was the chief guest and some of other Members of Parliament including the Opposition MPs were also present.

Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire said his opponent used the same ceremony to tarnish his name and insisted that Kahonda’s  4 years in Parliament is a wasted time to the people of Ruhinda and Mitooma at large.

Kahinda said that MP Kahonda should never claim to be a National Resistance Movement Supporter as he always takes sides with Opposition MPs

Muhangi Wilberforce Byaboneka, the NRM Chairperson for Mitooma district has also accused MP Kahonda and his diehard the embattled Mitooma district LC5 Benon Karyeija Boneza of telling lies to the people of Mitooma district in order to catch their sympathy.

Byaboneka said both MP Kahonda and Karyeija have failed to understand the words of Maj General Kahinda Otafiire where he used the word Rat and A lion and they are using the words to divide voters in Ruhinda Constituency.

When asked on issues of censuring the chairman LC5 Benon Karyeija of NRM and supporting the independent, Byaboneka denied the allegations saying Karyeija had issues with the district council and was censored by the councilors.

Major General Kahinda Otafire and Retired Captain Dononzio Kahonda have been engaged in a battle of words since the start of this year.

In Masindi

Moses Kirya the Masindi district speaker has summoned the Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, to appear in council today to defend himself over several allegations put against him.

The accusations put against the RDC include; being at the fore front of dividing Masindi district council, protecting corrupt people in the district, using his office to oppress the poor in the interest of the rich , causing disunity amongst NR members, poor working relationship with the district chairperson, fighting development and neglecting his duty.

Two weeks back, over 200 residents from the nine sub counties of Masindi district petitioned the office of the speaker requesting him to table the matter before the council such that it could recommend for his transfer.

Addressing journalists in his office yesterday, Kirya explained that when he received the citizens’ concern, he communicated to the district executive on the 12^th of November 2019 to enable them have an input into the matter.

He added that on 25^th of November 2019 the district chairperson, Cosmas Byaruhanga, notified him on how the district executive had resolved that the matter be tabled in council in fulfillment of the people’s request.

When contacted, the RDC Godfrey Nyakahuma confirmed having received the speaker’s communication.

He commended the speaker for being transparent noting that all he wants is to be accorded a fair hearing.

In Kabale

Unidentified thugs on Tuesday night broke into the offices of National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) Kabale branch.

The offices located on Mutambuka road in central division Kabale Municipality, serves the districts of Kabale, Rukiga and Rubanda.

 A staff who preferred anonymity said that they were shocked when they reported for work yesterday morning only to find two computers and vital documents missing.

He said that the thieves could have used the behind window or the gate to gain access into the offices

 .

The watchman who was on duty was arrested by police to help in investigations.

Norman Nsenga the NIRA greater Kabale District Information Technology officer declined to give a comment when contacted by our reporter.

The police tried to use a sniper dog but all in vain because it could not truck anyone. 

Last week, the yet to be identified thugs also broke into Kabale university computer laboratory and the office of the academic registrar stealing about 16 computers. 

The Kigezi regional police spokes person Afande Elly Maate confirmed the incident and he said that investigations are underway.
