THREE DEACONS, 7 CLERGYMEN, ORDAINED AT NORTHWEST ANKOLE DIOCESE, URGED TO RESPECT THEIR SUPERIORS

Thousands of Christians in have filled to capacity St.Paul’s cathedral church the seat of Northwest Ankole Diocese in Ibanda municipality to witness the ordaining of three Deacons and seven clergymen who completed a three year course in church administration and evangelism.
The newly ordained Deacons are: Rev. Leonald Turyasingura, Rev. Justine Kashemeire the only lady and Rev. Kenneth Kanyesigye. Others include seven clergymen include Rev. Elly Mpamizo, Steven Muhanguzi Kashesya, Rev. Laban Mwesigwa, Rev. Elias Wagaba, Rev. Joshua Abireeba, Rev. Merdad Tindimwebwa and Rev. Alone Habaasa.
The procession of service started at 9.00am led by Bishop Rt. Rev. Amos Magezi.
Bishop Magezi said that the ordained group has been trained in Theology, church history and Christian doctrine and others matters that will enable them professionally run church affairs in the Northwest Ankole diocese.
“The commissioning of deacons and priests in the church of Uganda is important because there are gaps left behind in the Diocese especially those who retire or died,” Rt. Rev. Magezi said.
He asked the Deacons and the clergymen to respect their superior including the Christians in the parishes as well their respective churches where they will be posted and assigned duties to ensure sustainability of the church projects and follow the canon laws.
“I congratulate you all 10 church officers upon your successful completion of your course in evangelism and church administration as deacons and clergymen. Go and bear many fruits and those fruits will feed many Christians, the sheep of God by giving hope to the hopeless and offer spiritual healing and play for the sick ones in your parishes.” Magezi blessed them.
Rev. Fred Karugaba, of Ankole Diocese who was the main preacher asked the ordained priests to respect 10 commandments, the value of Christians and always make the accountability for the money collected by the believers.
“I know that it is that God who chose you to lead his sheep, work hard to unite them to develop the church of God” Rev. Karugaba emphasized.
North West Ankole Diocese carved out of Ankole diocese started in 2017 in Ibanda district is composed of over 30 parishes and four archdeacons. It has started training its workers to become Deacons and Priests by following a period of testing and preparation from theological colleges to reflect the nature of church ministry.
