In Bushenyi

The Bushenyi district farmers’ association chairperson Jotham Misango has advised People to be conscious on the meat they buy from the butchery.

Misango noted that some of it is treated with formalin so that it can stay fresh and longer in the market.

Formalin is a chemical that is used on dead bodies to prevent them from producing bad smell.

Misango was speaking to the Bushenyi market traders and butchers in meeting that were held today at Bushenyi municipal council hall.

He said that some traders use toxic chemicals to keep their products fresh which is dangerous to human beings.

He also advised traders and farmers not to apply pesticides in agricultural products that are already in the market for consumption adding that they are toxic and this is why incurable diseases like cancer are increasing in human beings.

Misanngo noted that farmers should apply protective clothes while spraying their crops to prevent chemicals from entering bear skins.

Speaking as the coordinator Bushenyi district farmers association, Alex Yebangire advised people to protect water sources jealously than wasting them and start crying to government for help.

He added that it is everyone’s responsibility to protect water sources because water is life.

In Rubanda

Court in Rubanda has started investigations into circumstances that led to death of a suspect in police custody of Bufundi police station in Rubanda District.

The deceased was identified as Erasmus Twinomujuni 34years, a resident of Quaters “A” village, Kacerere parish, Bufundi Sub County Rubanda district.

Twinomujuni a renown drug addict was arrested on charges of threatening violence and assault after he threatened his mother Justine Zinkubire with apanga.

He is suspected to have hit himself on the wall as he had moments back been heard banging the wall, before the officers calmed him down.

According to Kigezi police spokesperson Elly Maate minutes later he was found lying unconscious as officers opened for normal inspection.

Maate said that the brother was called to take him to hospital but, unfortunately he died on the way to Bufundi HCIII.                       

Meanwhile the area magistrate and police surgeon have commenced inquiries to establish the cause of death.

In Kisoro

Police in Kisoro have arrested two men for allegedly raping and murdering a 43 year old woman.

 The deceased Juliet Nyiramugisha a resident of Nyabune village, Chahafi Parish, Murora Sub County, Kisoro District was found killed in her bedroom.

It is alleged that her murders forcefully removed her from her house and raped her about 40 metres from her home killing her.

According to Elly Matee the Kigezi region police mouthpiece, it is also alleged that the killers later took the body back her bedroom; undressed it and clothes were dumped 30 metres away from her house.    

 He confirmed that so far two people; Nsenga Festo in whose bar the deceased was last seen and Turikumwe Emmanuel to whose home the sniffer dog led the police have been arrested.

The body of the deceased was also taken to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
