The Archbishop of Mbarara catholic Archdiocese His grace Paul Kamuza Bakyenga has donated 4998 kilograms of maize flour to Mbarara district Corona virus task force as food relief to the needy.
The relief of 4998 kg packed in packets of 6 kg was today morning received by the RDC who also doubles as task force chairperson James Mwesigye.
Bakyenga said that there are many struggling needy people affected by the lock down to stem the spread of corona virus most especially in towns.
Bakyenga appealed to all church leaders to kneel down and to pray to God so that He intervenes in Covid-19 fight which has left people suffering and dying in Europe.
In his remarks the RDC Mbarara district James Mwesigye warned people who are accusing to say that Mbarara district task force of eating food relief to the needy to be careful with whatever they say.
James noted that he has already directed town clerk and his committee to distribute these foods door to door but not to call everybody to receive.

Bushenyi district Corona virus task force team headed by the RDC Jolly Tibemanya has constituted a five members team to spearhead the fundraising drive to raise items for relief in this Covid 19.
The team headed by Peace Tibakuna the Nyabuubare sub county councillor, Malik Mahab the district CAO, Nancy Nyamweya the in charge Kyeizooba health centre III , Martin Mugisha the health practitioner and Aaron of Operation Wealth Creation will be tasked to solicit goods and funds to be distributed to the vulnerable people of Bushenyi .
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com reporter after her appointment, Peace Tibakuna praised the task force for the trust they put in her and vowed to exhibit transparency and accountability as far as the funds coming in will be concerned.
She was appointed as head of the committee on 14th during the 6th Bushenyi district task force meeting at the district headquarters
She called upon members of the public, Members of Parliament, institutions, factories around Bushenyi to join the cause of supporting the vulnerable in this lock down as well as fighting Covid 19 .

In the face of a deadly global pandemic, government cleared shipment of 250 kilogrammes of marijuana to Tel Aviv after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government agreed to pay $375,000 (about Shs1.5b) for dry cannabis flowers.
Security sources told www.mknewslink.com that a Kasese-based medical marijuana dealer- the Industrial Hemp (U) Ltd, used Turkish Airlines on Monday night to deliver their first significant medical cannabis exports to Israel. The Turkish flight left the country at 11:30pm.
This website understands that the company last year signed a delivery order with Israel’s ministry of health that requires Uganda to supply dry cannabis flowers at a gate price of $1,500 per kilo. This company is linked to former Bunyaruguru County MP Benjamin Cadet.
Sources told www.mknewslink.com at the weekend that the deal was secured through an Israeli marijuana company – Pharma Limited.
Israeli’s health ministry contacted the company last year through one of the directors at Pharma Limited, an Israeli company working with Industrial Hemp (U) Ltd and has invested about $360m (Shs1.3 trillion) in Hima, Kasese.
Mr Cadet, one of the directors at Industrial Hemp (U) Ltd, confirmed the order from Israel but declined to divulge the details.
After hours of consultations, he later sent a brief WhatsApp message in which he called the deal “a great leap forward” by Uganda and his Industrial Hemp to become the first country and company in the world to access the Israeli medical cannabis market.
“With Coronavirus negatively affecting economies around the world, our medical cannabis exports are going to generate foreign exchange for Uganda in these difficult times and the future to come,” Mr Cadet said but declined to divulge other details of the deal.
The company is expected to export additional 600kgs later this month.

Leaders from Bwambara sub- County in Rukungiri district are worried over the rate at which residents defecate in bushes due to low toilet coverage.
A good number of residents in the sub- County still use bushes and semi standard toilets to ease themselves every time Nature calls.
Poor disposal of human waste has been blamed on lack of community sensitization, poor sanitation and hygiene.
According to Emmanuel Baryomunsi, the Bwambara health center IV in- charge, diarrhea and typhoid are the most reported cases at the facility.
Baryomunsi said that more than 40 cases of diarrhea are registered monthly especially among children below five years and more than 30 typhoid cases are registered per month.
Charles Rukundo a resident of Kikarara parish in Bwambara sub- County testified that he has on several occasions treated his children for typhoid and diarrhea as a result of consuming contaminated water.
Innocent Kanyerezi, a business man in Bwambara trading center said that basing on the nature of their soils, constructing a toilet is expensive and most of the people do not use them.
According to Kanyerezi , he finds it difficult to cater for his children’s school fees and scholastic materials because he spends a lot on family medical bills.
He said that people’s negative attitude towards toilets has also become a big challenge in combating the trend.
Henry Kamugisha, the sub- county chief said that the sub- County has a population of 24,000 but only 5000 use latrines, while the rest defecate in open places.
Kamugisha added that a by-law was passed by the sub- county council to force every family in the sub- County to have a pit latrine.

In Buhweju

The Buhweju Woman Member of Parliament Oliver Katwesigye Koyekyenga has called upon residents in her district to grow more food crops during this time of Covid 19 so that they have enough food after the pandemic.
MP Koyekyenga said this in an exclusive telephone interview with www.mknewslink.com managing director.
She was discusssing her pieces of advice with www.mknewslink.com on how her people can copy up with the disease and still survive.
Koyekyenga advised the people of Buhweju to strictly follow presidential directives such as closure of bars, being at home before 7:00 pm, avoiding gatherings and washing hands regularly.
Koyekyenga noted that Covid 19 is preventable though it so far has no cure but it can be managed by other drugs urging them to fight it by all means.

She still called upon all people of Buhweju who returned from their workplaces outside the district because of Covid 19 to use this opportunity to grow  food crops that will be eaten during post corona virus era .

Oliver Katwesigye Koyekyenga is completing her second term having replaced the late Joy Arinaitwe Kariisa who passed in early 2013.
