In Rukungiri

Police in Rukungiri district are investigating the cause of the accident that killed one of their own.
The accident which involved motor vehicle reg. no UAQ 345V Toyota starlet driven left Cpl Sabasore Charles acting station major Rukungiri Police Station with many injuries which he later succumbed to.
It is alleged that on 23/5/2020 at about 2200 hrs, the vehicle which Sabasore was driving lost control,overturned along republic street within Rukungiri municipality and he sustained serious injuries.
Elly Mate, the Kigezi Region police mouth piece said that he was immediately admitted at Case clinic Rukungiri but was later referred to Mbarara referral hospital where he died yesterday morning.

In Hoima–

Police in Hoima district are investigating circumstances under which a 28 years old woman allegedly stabbed a 17 year old girl with a knife.
Police has identified the deceased as Fatuma Kambo, a resident of Mpogo in Sironko district who was staying with her sister who works as security guard with Pinaco Security Company in Hoima.
The late Fatuma was announced dead shortly after reaching Hoima regional hospital where she was rushed to receive treatment.
When news of the murder spread out, a large mob gathered and attempted to lynch the woman, but she was rescued by police and currently detained at Hoima central police station.
She has been identified as Phiona Manishimwe, a Rwandese who has been working in a diary which is next to the room where the deceased has been sleeping in Lusaka lower western ward Kahoora division in Hoima Municipality.
According to Abdukareem Mwesige, a resident, the duo developed quarrels four days back as Phiona accused the deceased of playing music at high Volume of the Sub woofer saying it was causing a lot of noise.
Albertine region police publicity ASP Julius Hakiza Allan confirmed the news saying that the suspect will be produced in court to answer charges of murder when they complete investigations.

In Mbarara

Mbarara Catholic Archdiocese has set 20th June 2020 as the date for the enthronement of the new archbishop.
The function will take place at Nyamitanga catholic cathedral in Mbarara town, Mbarara district, according to the outgoing Archbishop Rt Rev Paul Bakyenga.
The most Rev Paul Bakyenga resigned from the pastoral care after clocking 75 years retirement age.
Bishop Bakyenga was born in Bumbaire, Bushenyi district.
He was ordained a priest on 11th July 1971 at the age of 27 and has been the Archbishop of Mbarara since 2nd January 1999 up to 25th April 2020
While talking to www.mknewslink.com on weekend, Rt Rev Paul Bakyenga said he is thankful that Pope Francis accepted his retirement letter and gave them Rt. Rev. Lambert Beinomugisha as his successor .
According to Rev. Bakyenga, Lambert Beinomugisha has been auxiliary Bishop for at least 15 years and has been executing his duties with care.
While talking to press on 25th April 2020 after his appointment, the incoming Archbishop Rt Rev Lambert Beinomugisha said he will follow the footsteps of his boss and always ask for career guidance from him.
Bishop Lambert Beinomugisha was born on 12th June, 1961 in Kashumba, Bukanga Isingiro district.
He was ordained a priest on 13th July 1991 and appointed the assistant to Archbishop Bakyenga by Pope Benedicto XVI on 2nd July 2005
However, mass gathering is still on ban as the country fights the spread of the deadly Corona virus and the country has been under lock down since 20th March 2020.

In Kikuube

Eight people are feared dead after a canoe boat in which they were travelling capsized on Lake Albert on Sunday.
Onboard were some of the people forcefully evicted by Uganda peoples Defence forces-UPDF soldiers from Ususa landing site which is said to be one of the illegal landing sites in the area to Sebigoro landing site in Kyangwali sub-county.
The incident happened about 400 metres away from Susa landing site in Kikuube district.
The boat was reportedly carrying eighteen passengers heading to Sebigoro landing site in Kyangwali Sub County, Kikuube District.
The Albertine regional police spokesperson Julius Hakiza, said efforts to retrieve the bodies by Police and UPDF marine are still ongoing.
He has said they have so far only retrieved one body of a 10-months-old baby who died on the back of its mother.
Ten people survived the accident and according to Mr Hakiza, these are from Mukambo in Ituri province in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The survivors as identified by police are Fuambe Apolu, Aruba Jaliwinyi, 51, Phina Okethwengu, Biwanga Munguriek, 24, Nusura Anolo, Irine Ayenyo, 20, Solaini Atim Jedi, Pasia Ocikwengi, and Samuel Tito.

Sheema municipality Parliamentary aspirant Patrick Mutabwire has revealed that he lobbied many projects for the district and Sheema municipality which is a clear manifestation that he can be a good Member of Parliament once elected into office.
Among the projects he has lobbied are 700M Sheema district head quarters,Central division headquarters 210M, Kashozi sub county headquarters 100M, Rugarama sub county head quarters 100M.
Others are Rural Electrification Agency at Kareera and other surrounding areas, Kareera seed secondary school ,Kareera IT department and now it is a centre for excellence funded by the World Bank.
He also said that Rwakasinga centre for higher Education received 2B which is being used for the construction of buildings at the school and this began July 2020.
He noted that he lobbied and created town councils which include Bugongi, Kakindo ,Shuuku,Kitagata and Masheruka .This resulted increment of resources as well as jobs for the people of Sheema and outside.
He revealed that he has also aided construction of churches and mosques which has helped people to pray under good environment.
