BUSHENYI 99 YEARS OLD REGULAR PILGRIM TIBYANGYE PERFORMS CROSS DISTRICT MINI PILGRIMAGE DUE TO CORONA VIRUS PANDEMIC

As the country is in lock down following the Corona virus pandemic, regular pilgrims in greater Bushenyi decided to make a mini pilgrimage within Bushenyi District.
Led by a 51 times pilgrim 99 years old Fobenardo Tibyangye, a group of 10 pilgrims from St Kaggwa Parish, Mbarara Arch Diocese, started from St. Kaggwa catholic parish to Ntungamo center.
While at Ntungamo, the pilgrims perfomed Matyrs’ prayers before setting back to St Kaggwa.
Tibyangye 99, former catechist who have been paying homage and pilgrimage to Namugongo walking on foot in commemoration of uganda martyrs showed great concern for not footing to Namugongo this year because of corona Virus pandemic.
He began the norm 51 years ago when he first met Pope John Paul II and added that this is the first in history when there wont be a pilgrimage to Namugongo. He thus urged christians to remit to their despite the challenge.
Richard Bangirana who led the mini pilgrimage also a regular pilgrim said that since its the first time they have not payed Homage to Namugongo, they decided to walk through Bushenyi district in a small group of people as a compensation for walking to Namugongo.
Bangirana adds that though this year’s walking to Namugongo has not been effective because of corona virus, their cross district pilgrimage they interceded for the country,prayed for repentance,forgiveness and good deeds as portrayed by the Uganda martyrs with their strong belief of faith.
Meanwhile, Christians have been called upon to reflect and learn to emulate the strong belief and faith exhibited by the martyrs.
The appeal was made by Fr Ulbano Muhumuza while at St Kaggwa catholic parish in Bushenyi in his martyrs message to the Christians community which was attended by only 10 Christians.
Ugandans across the country and the world at large celebrate Martyrs day in commemoration of the Uganda Martyrs were persecuted between 31st January,1885 and 27 January,1887 under the orders of Kabaka Mwanga II the king of Buganda.
