TRANSPORT FARES INCREASED AS PUBLIC MEANS RESUME OPERATING

Ugandans have today morning been relieved as public transport including buses and taxis resumed operating across the country.
Bushenyi taxi drivers who talked to www.mknewslink.com reporter revealed that one needs 15000 shillings to travel from Bushenyi to Mbarara, shs 10000 to Kabwohe and 10000shs from Kabwohe to Mbarara.
They added that bus fares from Bushenyi to Kampala are as high as shs 40000.
Drivers claim that they have hiked the transport fares following increase in the prices of fuel at all petrol stations especially petrol and diesel.
According to Sonko Twaha a Taxi operator in Ibanda Municipality, the fare from Ibanda to Mbarara is now shs 20,000= per head while buses travelling from Ibanda to Kampala charge shs. 50,000 per person.
He added that all the passengers follow guidelines set by the ministry of health through covering their mouths, noses and eyes with masks.
