Kabale Resident District Commissioner Darius Nandinda has revealed that he is not worried about the letter written to the president by the Kabale journalists complaining about his misconduct towards them.

Journalists in Kabale recently wrote a strong worded letter to the president complaining about RDC Darius Nandinda interfering with their work.

Nandida told www.mknewslink.com managing editor in a telephone interview that there are three FDC journalists who are conniving with the powerful Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda , MP Wilfred Nuwagaba to spread the gospel of opposition in Kabale district.

He added that the president will not listen to them because the intelligence is on ground to know who is wrong or right noting that he is sure the president won’t implicate him as he is fighting opposition journalists.

The RDC admitted to www.mknewslink.com that he confiscated a phone belonging to Journalist Rodgers Akandwanaho attached to voice of Kigezi and handed it to DPC Kabale.

He noted that instead of Akandwanaho coming for his phone, he mobilized protesters who stormed his office the following morning.

On the issue of deploying Police at the home of Bob Rumanzi a presenter at Freedom Radio after he held a program about the fracas, the RDC denied the allegations.

In Hoima

Sixteen people are feared dead after a canoe boat they were traveling with from Democratic Republic of Congo to Hoima district in Uganda capsized on Lake Albert on Sunday night.

The canoe boat reportedly carrying 19 Congolese who stay at Mbegu landing site in Buseruka Sub county in Hoima district capsized at around 9pm.

It is alleged that they sneaked and crossed to Mukambu in DR Congo for burial on Saturday last week.

It is reported that on their return journey, they met other Congolese who were crossing to Uganda and gave them an aid in the same Canoe that had a capacity of 8-10 people.

The deceased persons are yet to be identified.

According to Suleiman Wako, a resident of Mbegu landing site, two people have so far been rescued from the lake.

They were rescued by fishermen from the DR Congo and taken to Mukambu landing site in DR Congo.

Among some of those rescued include; Ajaru Katanga, and Pyer Sesanga.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson said that the boat capsized on the other side of the DR Congo.

Hakiza further explained that they are investigating how people illegally sneaked into the DR Congo given the heavy security deployed on the Lake Albert waters.

This development comes a few weeks after another accident happened on May 25th, 2020 where eight people died after a boat in which they were traveling capsized on Lake Albert.

Kabale district leaders have suspended Sagma technical services LTD ,an engineering company that was contracted to upgrade Buramba health Centre 11 to health Centre 111 over shoddy work.
The decision was made yesterday when the district leaders visited the building site after receiving several complaints from the concerned residents and local leaders accusing the site engineer of using fake materials.
The district leaders headed by the district LCV chairperson Patrick Besigye Keihwa and the Chief Administrative Officer Ntimba Edmond ordered the contractor head Mr. Paddy Mwesigwa to expel the site engineer and pause the work until two weeks.
According to the contract that was signed between the company and Kabale district Local Government in January this year, the construction process was supposed to done by late July this year.
Sagma was awarded 650 million Shillings to set up a health facility and staff quarters at Buramba Rubaya subconty Kabale ditrict.
Mr Julius Barusya , the chairperson health committee Kabale district who doubles as the Kamuganguzi sub county district councilor said that during construction, he witnessed low cement to sand ratios and substandard blocks.
He said that their pleas to Sagma technologies and contractors to have the mistakes rectified fell on deaf ears.
Eng. paddy Mwesigwa , the director Sagma technology LTD and the Kabale district engineer Janurario Bagamuhunda didn’t pick our repeated calls for a comment.
