UPDF OFFICER STONED WHILE ENFORCING CURFEW DIRECTIVES, THREE ARRESTED

A Uganda people’s defense force (UPDF) officer in Hoima district is nursing wounds he sustained on his head when a group of unruly people in Buhanika Cell, Nyambogo ward Mparo division Hoima municipality attacked and pelted stones at security operatives enforcing curfew directives on Thursday night.
The victim was identified as Pte Twere Lawrence attached to the 303 brigade in Hoima district.
Julius Hakiza Allan, the Albertine region police spokesperson says that last night at around 9pm, Police received an intelligence report that in Buhanika Cell, Nyambogo ward Mparo division a group of people had gathered in a bar and were boozing.
He adds that after getting intelligence, a joint operation team boarded a motor vehicle belonging to ISO Hoima office and upon reaching the place, the group started pelting stones at them thus injuring the officer and damaging the vehicle’s window screen on the passenger side.
Hakiza noted that three people were arrested to help police in investigations noting that once investigations are done, those involved will be taken to court and charged with attempted murder and malicious damage.
