Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner Dan Kaguta has confirmed that the district has registered her first COVID-19 positive case.
The confirmed case who is receiving treatment at Mulago referral hospital is a male resident of Rukungiri municipality.
Addressing the media at his office today, Kaguta without disclosing the details noted that the ministry of health confirms that Rukungiri district has registered her first covid-19 positive case.
Kaguta tasked leaders at all levels to be extra careful and embark on reporting whoever enters their areas of leadership saying that will help the district to stop the spread of this covid-19 in the district.
“Am here to confirm to the public that the Rukungiri district has today registered her first coronavirus case. This therefore serves to warn the public who have been so reluctant in enacting with us,”Kaguta said.
Dr. Akasima Mucunguzi , the District Health Officer said that this is the time when all locals should stand warned and start putting on face masks plus observing other covid-19 measures if they are to control the spread of the disease.
Dr. Akasima added that they have so far quarantined 200 people who are both family members and their contacts calling for calmness as the district does its best to overcome this issue.
“No more jokes, the enemy is with us so we need to observe the guidelines as put by the ministry of health or we shall die because as the district we don’t have a district referral hospital to cater for confirmed cases so please stand warned,” Dr. Akasima warned.
This comes at a time when the district is still struggling to have a district referral hospital meaning the district is crippling with poor health services delivery.
