The Chief Magistrate court in Ntungamo presided over by Sarah Kolya has today 8th Sept.2020 remanded State minister for Labor Mwesigwa Rukutana and his 4 co-accused escorts to prison until 15th ,Sept,2020.
In a court session where a few family members of Rukutana were allowed, the chief magistrate Kolya extended the bail application of the accused without giving any reason but she only adjourned the matter to the mentioned dates.
However, Rukutana’s lawyers claim their client needs a special attention from the medics since he is not feeling well.
Yesterday the Ntungamo Grade one magistrate Nasifah Namayanja sent Rukutana to Kyamugorani government prison in Kakiika Mbarara on charges of attempt murder, malicious damage and inciting violence.
Rukutana was arrested on Saturday together with his three escorts following a violent exchange between the minister and supporters of his political rival Naome Kabasharira who had defeated him in NRM primaries in Rushenyi County
