In Kabarole

Kabarole district Chairperson Richard Rwabuhinga has instituted a new executive Committee, hardly four months since the creation of Fort Portal Tourism City.

Rwabuhinga said his executive committee was left with only three members out of the mandatory five, after the two left, following their areas of representation being elevated to Fort Portal Tourism City.

During the district council sitting at Kitumba District Headquarters yesterday, Rwabuhinga presented Hon. Augustine Babuuza Kisembo as Vice Chairperson replacing Margret Kihika, Richard Tatiina Councilor Kijura Town Council as Secretary Finance, Administration and Gender Resty Balinda Mboijana councilor Busoro as Secretary for Education and Health replacing Florence Kadoma, Hon. Muhindo Aron Byakutaaga secretary for works, Natural and Production.

Rwabuhinga also appointed members to the district Land board that include Joshua Kagaba as Chairman Land Board, Jill Piinda Birungi, Karwani Abel, Basaliza James and Kajangu Daniel as members

The councilors unanimously approved all the committees but tasked them to execute their roles committed.

In Kasese—

Over 200 families in Isule parish, Maliba Subcounty in Kasese district have been left homeless after mudslides covered their homes and destroying their property. 

Five Boda boda motorcycles whose owners had taken shelter have been swept away by fast flowing mud.

At least 12 villages including Isule I and II, Bwatho, Kamabwe among others have been critically affected.

The Landslides followed the heavy rains that buttered the area throughout Wednesday and last night.

Many access routes in and out of the sub county have been cut off leaving the affected residents without access to aid and social services.

In Rwampara

Vincent Mujuni Kyamadidi the Rwampara constituency independent aspirant candidate has vowed not to step down from the race as suggested by NRM party.

Speaking on a radio talk show in Mbarara city today 31^st Oct.2020, Kyamadidi noted that he is not willing to withdraw from the race when he knows that NRM primaries most especially in Rwampara were marred with political violence and voter bribery.

He added that to make matters worse the issues were not tackled by the NRM electoral commission led by its chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi.

“In Rwampara district the district registrar declared the winner on the Rwampara district woman MP seat but from nowhere Dr. Tanga Odoi who is supposed to be the overseer of the National elections came in to declare his candidate,” Kyamadidi stressed.

Kyamadidi lost to Amos Akankunda in the NRM primaries that were held on 4th, Sept, 2020 .

In Sheema

The RDC Sheema district Mr. Frank Kyerere has warned the district veterinary staff to be serious on their work since their salaries were increased beyond those of RDCs and CAOs.

“I have no problem with you getting higher salaries more than me and the CAO, but work for it. Some of you sleep in Rwampara, Bushenyi and others in Mbarara, you are supposed to sleep at your work station,”Kyerere noted.

The RDC said these while closing a one day workshop for Government and private Veterinary staff held at Sheema district headquarters.

The workshop was organized by National Drug Authority in conjunction with Sheema district vet. Officer Dr. Joseph Amanya.

Kyerere noted that some of the veterinary staff don’t inspect meat, not to talk of advising farmers correctly on which drugs to use when animals are sick among others.

Dr. Wilfred Opira from NDA headquarters advised veterinary extension workers to be vigilant while doing their job such that they are not challenged by farmers who use internet to research about drugs and other animal related issues.

He urged farmers to use proper acaricides to prevent death of animals advising them to always consult veterinary staff for more assistance.
