Ibanda youths are mourning the loss of their colleague Eng. Godfrey Mugisha the NRM youth chairperson.

Eng. Godfrey Mugisha has succumbed to COVID-19 today Nov.8^th 2020.

Mugisha has been the NRM flag bearer for Ibanda youth NRM chairperson seat.   

Mugisha was admitted on Oct. 28^th at Mulago intensive care unit and has been battling for his life until Sunday Nov.8^th when he breathed his last.

In Mbarara

The National Unity Platform presidential flag bearer Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu yesterday launched NUP 2021-26 manifesto at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara city ahead of 2021 general elections.

While launching the Manifesto Bobi wine and NUP party officials highlighted a number of issues designated as “Five Fists” tackling democracy, security, job creation ,bettering service delivery among other sectors though the Manifesto won’t be achieved in a short term process 

Kyagulanyi stressed that the greatness of any nation doesn’t lie in the beauty of manifesto or how many beautiful policy documents have been written but rather in the commitment of leaders to mean what they say. 

NUP Manifesto seeks to address number of issues including security, international relations, bettering the health sector, education, economy, fighting land grabbing among other issues.

Immediately after taking power every Ugandan will experience a meaningful change,” Kyagulanyi stressed.

Other key issues in NUP 2021-26 Manifesto were

The youth to acquire more vocational skills and ICT to eliminate unemployment atleast 5000,000 jobs will be created in the first term of office 

It will be treasonous for someone to amend the Constitution 

Political terms including that of presidency will be two, 5 years each 

Security Officers like police will earn at least shs 1million monthly.

Abuja declaration and Maputo Protocol will be applied, 15 percent of the National budget will be allocated to Health among other issues.

In Fort Portal

The Tooro Royal (Biito) Clan are demanding their King Dr. Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru to shift from Kampala and embark in his kingdom to perform his duties.

This was during the Biito clan meeting held at Kalya Courts in Fort Portal yesterday attended by over 150 members including Prof. Edward Rugumayo, Msgr. Isaiah Mayombo among others.

Rev. Fr. Charles Oyo the clan Spokesperson says the Babiito realized that it’s against the cultural norms for a king to stay and perform his duties in another Kingdom.

Fr. Oyo noted that the king has abandoned his palace which is shameful adding that failure to honor their demand he should abdicate the Kingdom.

The Babiito have also demanded the King to marry so that the subjects can be sure of the succession plan of Tooro Kingdom.

Vincent Mugume the Deputy Ministry of Information Tooro Kingdom says the King will marry when time comes.

On Staying in Kampala, Mugume says the king being an HIV/AIDS ambassador, he is always invited in different meetings and is busy doing kingdom work and has not abandoned the palace as it’s alleged.

In September this year the king Oyo celebrated his silver jubilee coronation anniversary celebrations (Empango) at Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal.

The 28-year-old King Oyo ascended the throne at the age of three in 1995.

In Rukungiri

Rukungiri district service commission has finally been constituted following the expiration of the contracts of some members that expired 7 months back.

These whose contracts expired are the commission chairperson Stanley Munabi and Elias Bushabera who both served for 8 years

The new commission members are Cleophas Tiwaitiu as chairperson, and Rwandembo Mugisha, Jackson Baryamwihaho, Beatrice Namara as members.

Their core role is to provide government with competent human resources for effective and efficient public service delivery.

The Rukungiri district Chief Administrative Officer Elisa Byamungu says that the Public Service Commission approved the five members and they have been cleared to start work with immediate effect.

Byamungu adds that the commission has been tasked to clear the backlog of cases that had accumulated in the district that include disciplinary, confirmation of workers, filling vacant posts in public offices.

 Byamungu also called upon the new Commission members to get their strength from the oath they have just taken to address the declining ethical standards, lack of integrity or fighting impunity in the public service.

 Chalres Andrewson Katebire, the Rukungiri district chairperson tasked the commission to review the methodology used while recruiting workers saying they should recruit workers from within the district not from other districts adding that this will streamline service delivery.

 Katebire explained that once workers from within the  district are recruited it will address the problem of absenteeism and late coming than recruiting the ones from other districts who must trek from their home districts every day and work half day thus making it difficult for the people to access them in time.

The new commission members vowed to serve the district diligently but residents warned them against soliciting bribes.  They also tasked them to work as an independent organ and recruit on capability and by merit.
