In Bushenyi–

West Ankole diocesan bishop Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni has commended good Christian and other works done by lay Can. Georgina Kyasheema who was laid to rest yesterday in Kyeitembe ward Bushenyi Ishaka.

Bishop Johnson said this yesterday during the official sendoff of the late Lay Can. Georgina Kyasheema.

Speaker after speaker hailed the lay Canon for an exemplary life she has lived full of God’s work, bringing up God-fearing children.

Amb. Frankline Katungwe who spoke as a relative of the late Canon revealed that when his mother Vangrina Ruhinguza died she took over as his mother and whenever he would fly from Brussels where he works of Deputy Head of mission, he would ensure that he visited her to receive advice from her.

Amb. Katungwe hailed Bishop Johnson for an excellent evangelism in West Ankole diocese which has resulted into people getting saved and touring the right path of Christianity.  

Among other dignitaries who attended the high profile burial include Obadia Ntebekaine the son to Late Zabron Rushambuza, Living Mubangizi a retired civil servant from Rukungiri.

In Kabale

Ali Karama, the former secretary for health, education, and community based services is accusing the Kabale district LCV chairperson of firing him on political grounds.

Karama claims that he was expelled from the committee which he has served for 9 years, simply because he never supported the Kabale district boss in the last concluded NRM primaries.

On Wednesday during an extra ordinary council session that was chaired by the Kabale District Deputy Speaker John Paul Ahabwe held at the district Lukiiko hall Patrick Besigye Keihwa the Kabale LCV chairperson reshuffled his executive dropping the long serving Ali Karama who has been the secretary for health, education, and community based services.

Bridget Asinga Tumwesigye has been retained as the Vice chairperson, Johnson Baguma as secretary for finance, works, planning, administration, PWDs and elderly and Peace Murungi Rutarimara as secretary for production, marketing and natural resources.

Karama who claims to have been serving his position diligently on the committee says that he never supported the Kabale district LCV chairperson because of his corruption during government programs especially in the service commission department.

Karama however wondered why he was fired from the committee alone while he was appointed with others at the same time.

He says that the Kabale district LCV chairperson is a corrupt leader hence doesn’t need any one to confront his deals in the district.

Karama believes that his sacking was political and direct infringement on the rights of workers in Uganda but promised to continue cooperating with council members for the remaining days since their time of office is soon expiring.

When contacted on the matter, the Kabale district LCV Chairperson Patrick besigye Keihwa refuted the allegations and said that reshuffle is a normal one for the good service delivery to the people of Kabale.

In Iganga

Magistrate’s court in Iganga has today 20^th Nov.2020 granted bail to the presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi after charging him with doing an act likely to spread COVID 19.

Kyagulanyi commonly known as Bobi Wine was arrested on Wed. 18^th Nov.2020 while campaigning in Luuka district.

 He was later transferred to Nalufenya in Jinja where he has been in detention till today when he was taken to Iganga to appear before court.

Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has been granted bail. Court asks him to abide by the Ministry of Health and Electoral Commission guidelines.

However, the court area remains tightly guarded outside.–

In Mbarara

Security in Mbarara City has been Beefed up to combat any suspected chaos by NUP supporters demanding for release of their presidential flag bearer Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu.

Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine was arrested on 18th, November,2020 in Luuka district after his Supporters exceeded the maximum number of supporters ssupposed to attend a rally. 

According to Rwizi police mouthpiece Samson Kasasira the deployment follows the on-going protests in other cities such as Kampala, Masaka, Luwero by NUP Supporters.

He added that they have resorted to patrols around the city such that in case of any riots by NUP supporters they are in position to respond immediately.

“So far the situation in Mbarara city is still calm but we have   resorted to patrols around Mbarara city to combat any riots that may arise,” Kasasira noted.

Meanwhile,29 people have died in the on-going protests and over 35 people are nursing wounds in different hospitals within Kampala.

In Rukungiri

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party aspiring candidates at different seats in Rukungiri district have embarked on laying strategies that will help the party to gain its lost glory in the 2016 General Elections.

 In the 2016 general elections, NRM as a party only got one Member of Parliament putting Forum for Democratic Change ahead of NRM in the district.

The exercise that started yesterday is expected to last for at least 2 months with a view that the party gets 100% in the coming 2021 general elections.

Team 1 sevolution YKM  l a presidential campaigning team led Ambrose Kibuuka that is seeking support for president Museveni and all National resistance movement flag bearers in Rukungiri district was also launched.

The two campaign programs were launched at River side hotel Eastern division Rukungiri municipality.

Betty Atim, a member of Team 1 Sevolution YKM asked the people of Rukungiri to vote wisely saying that a vote matters a lot for the development of the district.

Midius Kaharata Natukunda who is battling for District woman Member of Parliament with Hon. Betty Muzanira of FDC said that on her political manure she will lobby for the well being of youth and pave ways of reducing unemployment among the youth.

Ambrose Kibuuka, the Team 1 Sevolution team leaders asked the people of Rukungiri to only vote for president Museveni and the NRM flag bearers in the district saying that NRM is the only party that has good plans that suits every Ugandan adding that they came in the district to re-organize NRM supporters.

At the same function over 30 people left FDC and  joined NRM.

In Kabale

Kabale regional referral Hospital yesterday suspended all non emergency admissions as Coronavirus cases continue to surge.

The announcement was made after the coronavirus treatment unit at the hospital was filled to the capacity by patients.

Darius Nandinda, the head of the Covid-19 task force in Kabale district said they extended the treatment unit to the medical ward at the hospital.

“Consequently, with effect from Wednesday 18^th November 2020, all new incoming patients with other medical conditions will be admitted at Kamukira health centre IV in southern division Kabale municipality” Nandinda said.

The Kabale hospital administration, District Health Officer and Kabale municipality officials have hence advised the general public to prefer lower health centers in Kigezi region, and only leave Kabale hospital for emergencies.

“Our people should choose lower health Centres to decongest the hospital. Only serious emergencies should come at the hospital” Nandinda said.

Nandinda further appealed to the public who might have come into contact with any confirmed patient to volunteer and report to surveillance and psychological teams at Kabale hospital or Kabale DHO’s office for further guidance.

Dr. Sophie Namasope, the Kabale Regional Referral Hospital told to our reporter that the hospital currently has 60 COVID 19 patients admission.

In Rubanda

Police in Rubanda district are holding five suspects for allegedly murdering two goat thieves.

The deceased have been identified as Tom Tumwesigye and Gracious Arinda both of Rwere cell.

According to Obed Kitabutuka the area district councilor, the two were lynched by residents of Rwere cell Muyanje parish Bubare sub county Rubanda district on 15/11/2020 at around 10:00 hours at Rwere trading centre.

He said that they were lynched to death for allegedly stealing two goats and other property of Serediana  Nyamitwe 78 yrs of Rusukizi village Muyanje parish.

It’s said that the goats were later sold to Gidion Nuwamanya alias Kagidi of Kirwa cell Northern division Kabale municipality. 

Kigezi region police spokes person Elly Matte told www.mknewslink.com  that police visited the scene, carried out postmortem.

He added that James Kabagambe, Ivan Nkwasizehi , Isaac Byamukama , Alex Nuwareba and George Tukundane all from  Rwere cell were arrested to help in investigations  since it is alleged that they were part of the mob.
