In Bushenyi

Bushenyi Ishaka municipality has summoned owners of plots of land who have failed to put up structures on them as a way of developing them.

David Tweheyo Betega the Bushenyi Ishaka municipal town clerk told www.mknewslink.com that they have found out that more than 20 plots in Bushenyi town lie idle while others have half buildings.

He added that it is for this reason that Bushenyi town is still lagging behind in development because of tycoons who have refused to build up their plots.

Tweheyo revealed that they have summoned owners of these plots to explain to the municipality on what plans they have for their plots.

He explained that if the owners of the plots in question refuse to develop them, they will be sued to courts as the law states.

In Bushenyi

The Archdiocese of Mbarara has finally confirmed that the fallen Priest of St. Kagwa parish Rev. Fr. Irenaeus Karenzi succumbed to COVID 19 related cases.  

The confirmation was made by Fr. Charles Mutabaruka Diocesan Media Relations officer through a special announcement posted on different social media platforms.

“As we give farewell to our beloved Rev. Fr. IRENAEUS KARENZI we wish to inform the general public that his death was related to Covid 19,” reads part of the special announcement.

Fr. Mutabaruka revealed that Fr. Kalenzi’s burial was to be conducted under strict adherence to SOPs and St. Kagwa Parish community, including the parish church where the late has been living and working will be closed from the public for two weeks.

He also noted that the priests and other residents will be in self-isolation for that period thus advised Christians to use the neighbouring parishes and churches for sacraments and other services.

The Offices at Nyamitanga hill (Archbishop, administration and parish) will be closed from the public for one week. The Cathedral however will remain open for liturgical services.

The Archdiocese continued to appeal to the Catholic community of the Archdiocese of Mbarara and people of good will to strictly adhere to the provided guidelines in order to prevent spread of Covid 19.

In Kisoro—-

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate, Patrick Oboi Amuriat has said that this is the right time for the people of Kisoro district to vote against Yoweri Kaguta Museveni because he only uses a person and later dumps him/her like a used condom.

According to Amuriat, Museveni has used and dumped among others, aspiring Independent Candidate, Gen. Henry Tumukunde, former FDC presidential flag bearer, Colonel Dr. Kiiza Besigye and former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi..

Amuriat reechoed this on Sunday while campaigning in Kisoro district at Saza Grounds in Kisoro municipality, Rubuguri town council and Nyanamo trading centre in Bukimbiri Sub County.

In March 2018, Museveni replaced Kayihura with Martin Okoth Ochola as the IGP. Kayihura was later arrested and charged with aiding and abetting the kidnap and illegal repatriation of Rwandan refugees. He was also accused of failure to protect war material when he gave guns to an authorized civilian group Boda-boda 2010 under the leadership of now-jailed Abdallah Kitatta. He was later released on bail.

Amuriat says that Kisoro people should show Museveni that they were angered by the way he mistreated Kayihura.

Amuriat promised that once elected president he will construct an airport in Kisoro to help in exporting agricultural produce.

He also accused Museveni for channeling money which was donated during COVID to NRM works while buying yellow vehicles for district NRM officials.

In Mbarara—

The burial of St.Kagwa parish fallen priest Rev. Fr. Elneous Kalenzi is underway at Nyamitanga cathedral.

Fr. Kalenzi’s body is being prayed for before it is laid to rest at Nyamitanga cathedral.

Fr. Kalenzi a serving priest at St. Kagwa was announced dead on Sat. 28^th Nov.2020 from a yet to be unknown disease.

 He passed on at Holy Innocents Children’s hospital in Mbarara, according to a close family member.

Fr. Kalenzi has been a tutor for primary teachers for a long time. He taught at Buhungira PTC before joining Bushenyi PTC where he retired from recently.

He was elected as president for the rotary club of Bushenyi after his retirement, served for one year and handed seat to another person.

He is a borne of Kiyaga Parish Bumbaire subcounty Bushenyi district.

Fr. Kalenzi’s sudden death followed the burial of his boss Fr. Pascale Betunga the episcopal vicar who was buried on Friday 27^th Nov.2020 at Nyamitanga.

St. Kagwa church has since been closed till 12^th Dec.2020 for healthy and safety reasons.

In Kabale—-

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat was on Sunday tear gassed by police for defying their orders of not campaign at Kabale lower stadium in Kabale District.

Amuriat was from Kisoro district where his campaign was foiled by police on Sunday evening for allegedly showing up past 6 pm.

While at Sabena stage in Kabale municipality, Amuriat came out of his vehicle to wave to his supporters.

Police responded by firing teargas and rubber bullets to disrupt the procession, which had begun attracting numerous locals.

Brain Ampeire, the Kabale District Police Commander, ordered him that it is impossible to be allowed to proceed to the playground for a rally yet his time was over.

Amuriat addressed his supporters protesting the order and attempted to walk around town which paralyzed transport for more than one hour.

He protested the order saying that there is no law that prohibits him from campaigning at Kabale lower stadium since he had reached in Kabale town before the closure of campaign hours.

However, police overpowered him, and later drove him out of town through Makanga road after paralyzing transport in Kabale town for an hour.

Elly Maate, the police spokesperson for Kigezi region says that their decision to block Amuriat is in good faith because he is aware that when it proceeds, 6pm no campaigning is allowed.
