BISHOP BAGAMUHUNDA CONCERNED OVER INCREASED ALCOHOLISM, DRUG ABUSE IN WESTERN UGANDA
By Grant Ahumuza
In Kigezi—
Rt. Rev. George Bagamuhunda, the Bishop of Kigezi Diocese has decried the increased alcohol consumption and drug abuse in western Uganda.
Bishop Bagamhunda expressed his concern at the closure of the 2021 Brethren Conference of the Diocese of Kigezi this afternoon.
According to Bishop Bagamuhunda, excessive alcohol consumption has escalated poverty, domestic violence in families and killings in the region.
He said that it’s regrettable that Ugandans especially youths have failed to learn from the killings resulting from alcohol consumption but they continue with the vice.
Bagamuhunda said that it is frustrating that most people in the region use the low funds they have to buy drugs and alcohol instead of saving it for the future.
The Bishop also tasked Christians to keep obedient and respect the church pillars as a way of living holy and Godly.
