In Bushenyi—
Bushenyi chief magistrate’s court has received an application Fred Kibala Mbiika demanding for a recount of Rwentuuha town council votes.
The application was filed late this evening Feb. 05, 2021 by Counsel Owen Murangira of Owen Murangira and co advocates.
Mr. Kibala Mbiika was defeated by one Naboth Nabasa of FDC who even defeated him last time in 2016.
The race was hotly contested and some observers accuse Kibala team of stealing votes but failing to win.
On voting day Kibala’s vehicle was arrested for allegedly keeping in it some ballot papers ticked in his favour of him.
Counsel Owen Murangira noted that the re-count if is to be done, must be done not later than Monday next week.
While speaking to www.mknewslink.com managing Editor on phone, the chief magistrate, Jane Mugara noted that if she is to carry out the recount, she will do it professionally as she has always done in other cases.
The disputed voting was done Feb. 03, 2021. The incumbent MP and at the same the time MP elect Micheal Mawanda Maranga spent two days in Rwentuha town council campaigning for his long time comrade Kibala Mbiika.
