In Rukiga–

The Rukiga District electoral commission has revealed that the election for Kadongo ward woman councilor will be held on Monday 8th 2021.

This is after their ballot papers were found missing on the official national polling day 3th February 2021.

The returning officer Rukiga District Ms Mbabazi Rabbeca told our reporter on 5th February 2021 that they had no other option than postponing the elections until they receive ballot papers.

She thanked the electorates for observing peace especially during the chairperson LC111 town council mayor elections.

The Kadongo ward woman councilor seat is being contested for by Ms. Victoria Tusingwire of NRM and Jacinta Nyesiga anindependent candidate

In Rwampara—

The Rwampara RDC Emmy Katera Turyabagyenyi has tasked the new board members of Mwizi Sacco in Rwampara district to work with integrity and focus much on leaving a legacy at the end of their   tenure.

Katera noted that he will ensure close supervision of the Sacco as previously the SACCO officials engaged themselves in corruption.

Mwizi Sacco which started in 2001 has over 1195 members with current savings amounting to 1.5 billion Uganda shillings, yesterday held its annual general meeting where delegates from different branches converged at the Sacco headquarters to take part in the exercise.

The newly elected chairman Mutabazi Wilson pledged to restore the lost glory of the Sacco by lobbing from the microfinance support center and ensuring that the Sacco is in the right hands of its clients. 

The Mwizi Sacco General manager Aaron Ntegyerize noted that though the Sacco experienced setbacks in 2020 when the then chairman Evarist Mujuni was implicated in swindling Sacco funds mounting to 411 million shillings, it is now steadily regaining its lost glory in the Region.

He said that now the Sacco has the savings of 1.5 billion shillings and that they hope to increase their savings to 2.5 million shillings in this new financial year.

In Kabale—

The killers of Kabale electoral commission guard has been transferred to Mbarara 2nd division UPDF headquarters to appear before court martial as it’s stipulated in Uganda’s constitution.

The killers identified as Paul Dusingizimana alias Never give up and Mugisha Asiimwe Mukwenda alias Young killed Spc Baryabakabo Galacius who was guarding EC Kabale offices in the night of 27/01/2021.

On 31Jan 2021, the suspects were picked from their hideouts in Nyabaikoni ward southern division Kabale municipality with the stolen gun number (UG.POL 56_5824456)

Now according to Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Matte the Regional CID SP Kule Yona together with the district team Kabale yesterday afternoon transported them to Mbarara for further management after the completion of inquiries.

Matte adds that the day of court will be communicated very soon 

Murder case was registered at kabale central police station under file number CRB 111/2021
