In Ntungamo—

The Inspector General of Government western Uganda has arrested three officials of Ntungamo district for allegedly embezzling 93 million shillings.

The three are; former Ntungamo district CAO Joanita Nakityo, current chief finance officer Andrew Byaruhanga and IT officer Julius Ashaba.

 It is alleged that the trio, between January-June 2019 had excess ugx 93 in salaries account which they channeled to their personal accounts.

They are expected to appear before Anti-corruption court Kololo tomorrow at 10AM.

In Bushenyi—

Grade one magistrate in Bushenyi His worship John Paul Osauro has today 18^th Feb.2021 remanded a lady who allegedly murdered a radio presenter on Friday Last week.

The accused Loyce Tihainomwangire has been remanded to Nyamushegyera government prison until 19^th March 2021 when she will appear for mention.

Prosecution led by Sylus Bwambale alleged that Loyce Tihainomwangire on 12^th Feb.2021 while in Kitwe, Rwentuha Bushenyi, killed Allan Mandela a sports presenter at Hunter FM.

Tihanomwangire was not allowed to say anything due to the capital nature of the offence.

Bushenyi media fraternity plus the entire community on Friday last week woke up to the bad news of the death of their beloved radio presenter Allan Mandela.

Loyce Tihainomwangire, and staff at another Bushenyi based radio who was his longtime lover was then arrested after she called Police to confess that she had killed him and mob wanted to lynch her.

She has since been at Police until today when she was produced into court for the first time.

In Rubanda

Farmers in Rubanda district are reportedly feeding pigs on Anti Retro Viral Drugs (ARVs) meant for people living with HIV/AIDS in order to enhance growth and increase the pigs’ body mass.

This was yesterday revealed in a report presented by the National Drugs Authority NDA during the training of veterinary Animal Health workers at Rubanda Town council meeting hall

The Regulatory officer in charge of medicines Dr. Brian Sekayombya said that they were shocked to find out that farmers in the district are using ARVs to enhance growth and fattening of pigs

Dr. Wilfred Opira also regulatory officer at NDA said they were carrying out National sensitization of veterinary services.

He said the campaign runs throughout the year and on Thursday the 18th of Feb 2021, they will move to Rukiga District.

In Mbarara—

Uganda Police have opened up a new call Centre at Mbarara central police station in Mbarara city, Rwizi region.

Samson Kasasira the Rwizi region Police spokesperson told www.mknewslink.com that the call Centre will serve districts from the   four regions of ; Rwizi ,Greater Bushenyi, Kigezi and Rwenzori East.

He added that so far training of 12 officers from the four regions commenced yesterday after which they will start to operate.

Kasasira noted that the training headed by SP Moses Ekudot from the Directorate of ICT Police Headquarters is preparing the officers for the task ahead of them.

He revealed that the call Centre will be operational 24 hours a day with a toll free number 999 for all networks at zero cost.

He said that this will help Members of the Public to reach out to Police for timely responses to incidents and emergencies within the regions.

He however warned the public against giving false information to police, adding that they will deal in accordance to the law with whoever does so.

In Kanungu—

Christians have been asked to embrace fasting as a sacrifice since it is not a death sentence

 The call was yesterday made by Rev. Bob Mbabazi Ntegyereize during an Ash Wednesday service at St Peter’s Cathedral Nyakatare.

The service was attended by hundreds of Christians from Bishop’s office Staff, Nyakatare Technical Institute, Nyakatare Primary school and Nyakatare Health Center.

Rev. Mbabazi who is the Diocesan Youth and Children Coordinator as well as the Diocesan Information Officer encouraged Christians to abstain from their earthly desires, repent from their sins, pray often and read the Bible during these 40 days of Lent.

 In the same service, Diocese of Kinkizi Bishop Rt. Rev Dan Zoreka called upon the Christians to follow the example of Jesus Christ, who sacrificed His glory to save mankind.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lent season among Christians and it is a great season of reflection onto their lives.
