MBARARA UNIVERSITY VICE CHANCELLOR BLASTS STRIKING STAFF

The Vice Chancellor Mbarara University of Science And Technology Prof. Celestine Obua has blasted the university staff who have decided to join other public universities lecturers in last week’s strike.
While addressing journalists in Mbarara, Prof. Celestine said it’s unfair that lecturers have come up with a strike at such a time after receiving salaries for nearly a year moreover without working.
“The university will not tolerate selfish and self-seeking lecturers whom earlier last week joined other public university’s lecturers strike after receiving salaries for a year while they were just sitter home,” Obua noted.
According to MUST’s academic schedule, lectures were supposed to kick off on 15th.Feb.2021.
Some of the students who spoke to www.mknewslink.com noted that they are uncertain about the next step.
On 10th .Feb.2021, Academic staff in public universities under their umbrella Organization ,Forum For Academic Staff In Public Universities (FAPSU) laid down their tools demanding payment of their salary arrears by the government for six years back totalling 129.24 bn Ugsh.
