In Bushenyi—

New entrant into Bushenyi district politics Patience Ashaba has declared her intentions to stand for the district speakership.

Patience Ashaba a social science degree holder from Makerere University if voted in will replace Justine Burisadi who is expected to retire in May as a councilor for PWDs in Bushenyi.

However, Patience Ashaba the Kyabugimbi town council and sub county woman councilor elect says that she has confidence to fully fit in that seat.

She told www.mknewslink.com in an exclusive interview that she wants to speak for her electorates and believes in herself.

Ashaba a director of ASPA education initiative an NGO which helps the vulnerable says that she is here to serve the people of Bushenyi.

Ashaba is to tussle it out with Ronald Rwabutwagu, Siraj Banyanga ,Annet Tibemanya, Douglas Junior among others.

In Bushenyi—

One week to the reporting back of sub candidate students, parents have been warned not to allow their children skip classes.

According to Saul Rwampororo, the Bushenyi District Officer, the thinking of a P.5 pupil cannot match that of P.6

He added that parents tend to look at the age of their children without considering the level of children’s thinking and capability to handle content taught in different classes.

Rwampororo said parents should relax because government has got a plan to examine all the learners before they get promoted to the next classes.

According to the dates set by the ministry of Education, P.5, S.3 and S.5 will resume studies on 1st March this year 2021.

In Kampala—

National Unity Platform Principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has withdrawn a petition challenging President Yoweri Museveni’s victory.

Bobi Wine made the declaration during a press conference at the NUP offices in Kamwokya on Monday.

“We have decided to remove our case from Owiny Dollo’s court, we shall now take the matter to the court of public opinion,” Bobi Wine said.

Bobi Wine said his team had realized they stood no chance in a court that looks compromised by the incumbent.

“Just like Museveni sought to challenge the victory of Obote in 1980 and later withdrew the case and chose to go to the bush, we have also sought the same since the circumstances are not any different,” Bobi Wine said.

He said that contrary to Museveni’s actions, he was not seeking a violent end to means.

“We are peaceful and we shall not use violence as Museveni did,” he said.

In Kabale—-

With anger, Kabale Catholic Diocese has allegedly petitioned President Museveni, accusing a minister for being sectarian.

In a leaked letter that has been making several rounds on social media, the catholic church accuses state minister for planning in the ministry of Finance David Bahati of causing division between the protestant and catholic churches.

On the letter dated 24^th December 2020, Catholics claimed that minister Bahati has used president Museveni’s name to sabotage government programs intended for Catholics diverting them to protestants.

In the copy which was received by the speaker of parliament of Uganda, Catholics accused minister Bahati of fighting almost every catholic who stood against a Protestants whether NRM or opposition though he is the party chairperson for Kabale district.

They cited that minister Bahati fought the Kabale district woman Member of Parliament Hon Catherine Ndamira during 2020 NRM primaries while contesting with Enid Origumisiriza (AUNT ENID) and unfortunately his side lost terribly.

Minister Bahati later funded hon. Enid Origumisiriza to again stand against the Kabale district NRM woman Member of Parliament flag bearer Catherine Ndamira but to their disappointment she defeated them hands down in the last concluded general elections.

Angry Catholics also accused minister Bahati of demeaning catholic functions compared to Protestants especially on church fundraising and youth meetings

Yearning Catholics again accused minister Bahati of influencing operation wealth creation program in Kabale especially Ndorwa west where the beneficiaries are mainly protestants and to add on that one must be loyal to Bahati.

The Catholics lastly accused Bahati of using president Museveni’s name to side line catholic, humiliation of priests among others.

In conclusion, the Catholics appealed to president Museveni for a quick intervention otherwise NRM is in the lean of falling in Kigezi region.

In Rukiga—

Police in Rukiga District have arrested three people who are suspected to have been part of the youth who beat up the LC 1 Chairman of Kagorogoro village, in Nyakasiru Parish in Bukinda Sub County to death.

 Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate has identified the deceased as Frank Byarugaba who was attacked by the unruly youth as he tried to stop them from playing cards.

Maate said that the incident took place Feb 21st 2021, at Obedi’s Bar in Nyakasiru Parish when the youth cut him with a panga several times leaving him for the dead.

The spokesperson told www.mknewslink.com that by the time the Police which had been tipped by a concerned resident arrived the scene, the Chairman had dead. 

The act angered the residents who went wild and burnt down two houses, one for the main suspect, and another for his father.

However,Maate could not disclose the names of the arrested suspects as inquiries are still going on.

The case was registered at Rukiga Central Police Station under reference number CRB 089/2021 to help in further investigation.

According to the managing director Wilber Muhwezi Kasibante, the office will be located at Balya plaza 3^rd floor room 9.

Kasibante will be celebrating 20 years of his journalism career of which 12 were spent at observer, new vision and daily monitor before starting mknewslink which is 7 years old.

The MD says there will be lunch and speeches at Bam classic hotel formally classic hotel in Mbarara city and the chief guest will be Rajiv Ruparelia a son to tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia.

Minister for local government Raphael Magyezi, mayor Kakyebezi, Vice Chancellors; Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Bishop StuartUniversity, Ibanda university and University of Saint Joseph’s Mbarara will be in attendance.
