TEN PEOPLE REMANDED TO MASINDI PRISON OVER MURDER OF FORMER KIBAALE DISTRICT ENGINEER

High Court in Masindi has today Wednesday March 24, 2021 remanded ten residents of Kibaale district in connection to the murder of the former Kibaale district engineer Gordon Twesiime.
High court presided over by high court jugde Justice Jessy Byaruhanga remanded Josephat Alibankoha, and nine others to Masindi prison till 26th March 2021, pending more investigations by the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
Prosecution told court today that, on 14th Sept 2017, the late Eng. Gordon Twesiime was beaten by the angry residents who blocked the road at Mituju trading center Nyamarwa Sub County in Kibaale District accusing him of stealing a vehicle.
“I received a call while at the police station, and I went with crime preventer to rescue a thief whom they told me had been arrested, and lynched by mob, only to realize it was Eng. Gordon Twesiime they were hitting with sticks, and stones,” ASP Mugisa told court.
Mugisa confirmed to court that the arrested residents were spotted on the scene for crime beating up late Eng. Gordon Twesiime.
Gordon was rushed to Mubende Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Eng. Twesiime who was according to relatives, and district officials suffering from a mental problem, was lynched by an angry mob on Thursday September 14, 2017 morning after he allegedly hijacked a taxi registration number UBA 096H in Karuguza Town Council in Kibaale district, and sat on driver’s seat ,drove it on a terrible speed leaving the driver behind.
