UPDF SOLDIERS URGED TO EMBRACE COVID-19 VACCINATION AS NECESSITY

Soldiers in Masindi, Kiryandongo, Buliisa, and Hoima districts have today afternoon been urged to embrace corona virus vaccination exercise in their respective areas.
Brig. James Kyambande the deputy commander artillery division sounded this at the official launch of the exercise at Masindi barracks.
He said they have received 2,700 doses of astra-zenecca vaccine for the soldiers at Masindi barracks, marine brigade in Butiaba, soldiers guarding Karuma hydro power, and those in Hoima.
The security personnel also noted that since they only received corona virus jab for the soldiers, while their spouses will be vaccinated according to the district programs.
Maj. Dr. Zavuga the supervisor of the exercise in the field artillery division, and Butiaba noted that the vaccine is safe though it has some effects including headache, feeling weak, and others.
He appealed to soldier to embrace the exercise, and disregard false information circulating on social media that the vaccine is not safe.
The health specialist appealed to vaccinated soldiers to desist from alcohol for at least three days.
“With time there might be need for corona virus vaccination certificate in order to travel abroad, am therefore appealing to soldiers to get vaccinated since they travel abroad for missions,” Maj. Dr. Zavuga noted.
