The Managing Director of Mknewslink.com Wilber Muhwezi Kasibante has been further remanded until 31^st May 2021.

Wilber Muhwezi was arrested on Thursday and remanded till 10^th May 2021 to prison but he was today re-remanded till 31^st May 2021.

He is accused by senior counsel Kamugisha of Trespass, Threatening violence, computer misuse and libel and it is alleged that the charges were committed way back in 2019.

However according to his friends, they are trying everything possible to see that he is set free in the quickest time possible.

In Mbarara—

Rwizi Region Police Commander Richard Ecega has warned the public against relaxing as far COVID 19 is concerned.

The RPC further warned that the new COVID 19 strain is more deadly compared to the first one citing out the way it is killing masses in India.

He thus threatened to arrest bar owners for continuously flouting COVID 19 SOP’S.

Ecega revealed that bars in Mbarara have continued to Operate even when the government has not officially reopened the bar businesses.

Ecega made the remarks in an interview with journalists on Saturday in Mbarara city.

“We have already deployed both casual and uniform errant officers around Mbarara city to arrest anyone operating bar business which is contrary to the law,” Ecega warned.

He further noted that curfew operations still stand and they are ready to arrest whoever will be caught moving beyond 09:00pm except he or she is an essential workers.

In Rubanda—

Police in Rubanda District are investigating circumstances under which a 66 year old woman was allegedly raped and killed.

The deceased Florance Tumusiime was yesterday May 9th 2021, found dead in a garden of beans near Kabaya Catholic Church in Nyarurambi Village, Ikamiro parish in Muko Sub County, Rubanda District.

Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesperson said that the residents told Police that the deceased was last seen on May 8th in Nfasha Trading Center as she walked to her home.

Maate added that when the Police visited scene of crime, they established that there was a likelihood of rape after which a sharp object was inserted in her private parts which were shattered leading to over bleeding.

Maate told journalists that the Police are trying to establish the people involved in this heinous murder of an innocent old woman so that they can be arrested and charged with high degree murder.

The case of murder has since been registered at Rubanda Central Police Station under reference number CRB 200/2021 to help in the investigations.

In Ibanda—-

Ibanda top district officials, councilors and well-wishers on Saturday bid farewell to their long serving boss, the LC V chairperson Mr. Melchidius Kazwengye.

Happy Mayanja the chairperson elect was also welcomed at the same function held at View gardens in Ibanda Municipality.

Kazwengye 61 years and former Technical school principal was elected as the first LC V chairperson in 2005. He has been in the office for 16 years after Ibanda district was carved from Mbarara district. He is born from Rukiri Sub County in Ibanda district.

The district councilors and district workers described Kazwengye as an expert, a father, counselor and a true leader who gave Ibanda district a model development, care, courage and Ibanda’s development shall continue as his legacy.

Kazwengye noted that during his time in the office, he renovated the old building which was in the existence and that is where the district is operating.

He boasted that many villages, cells and sub counties have received clean water through Mukazanyara water plant.

The Minister for Local government Mr. Raphael Magezi, commended the people of Ibanda district for their determination to build the district and urged them to work as one family and team.

The Minister lauded Mr. Kazwengye for promoting development projects in the district and bringing unity among the people during 16 years  since he was elected as chairperson LC V.

Meanwhile, the Minister warned the leaders not to sell off the government land which will spoil the image of the district.
