Ibanda Deputy Resident Commissioner Seif Katabazi, was on Sunday evening beaten up by one of the police officers deployed to implement curfew.
The RDC narrated to www.mknewslink.com that he was at his home along Jubilee Street in Kagongo Division, Ibanda Municipality at around 7PM when he heard people making noise and he moved out to witness what was transpiring.
Katabazi told journalists that he was questioning security Operatives’ way of forcing people to close shops instead of negotiating with them when one of the errant police officer who was also enforcing curfew started beating him.
The Deputy RDC told www.mknewslink.com that the officer continued to beat him even when he tried to identify until one of his colleagues ordered him to stop.

In Rukungiri–
A woman in Rukungiri municipality together with her three children is living homeless after the husband set their house ablaze.
The husband Bernard Tumwijukye a resident of Keitumura village, Northern B in Eastern Division is alleged to have set the house on fire accusing the wife of adultery.
Debra Namara whom our reporter found stranded in the morning of yesterday tearfully narrated that the husband destroyed all the household property on Sunday night.
Namara said that the husband first threatened to kill them and later forced them out before setting all the household items ablaze including beddings, clothes, chairs among others worth millions of shillings.
Namara who owns a stall in Rukungiri central market revealed to our reporter that she has had long misunderstanding with the husband who accused her of engagement in multiple sexual practices especially during working hours.
ASP. Harriet Nasuna, the Rukungiri Central Police O.C CID confirmed the incident adding that the fortunately, the family members survived death.
She called on the members of the public to engage in productive activities especially during this time of unexpected lockdown rather than redundancy that end up in domestic violence.
Police arrested Tumwijukye and is being detained at Rukungiri Central Police Station where an arson charge has been preferred against him under reference no. CRB 10/83/2021

In Sheema—
Police in Sheema district have arrested 5 teachers and 37 pupils after they were caught red-handed running normal studies amidst COVID 19 pandemic.
Ugandan President on Sunday 6th June 2021 ordered for the closure of schools for 42 days starting Monday 7th June 2021 as a part of tighter measures introduced to contain the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
The president also ordered teachers to use the break to get vaccinated as it will be a requirement for their return to work.
However, 5 teachers and 37 pupils of Bugongi preparatory primary school were found exercising normal learning disregarding the presidential directives.
According to Sheema DPC Steven Neragire, they were tipped off by parents that teachers and school directors were forcing them to take their children back to school.
Nelson Tugume the Mayor Bugongi Town council condemned the act adding that the school is paving for the spread of COVID 19 thus they should be punished seriously.
Police are still hunting for Bugongi preparatory School directors while pupils have been released to go back home.
