KABALE BODA BODA RIDERS ACCUSE POLICE OF BRUTALITY, EXTORTION

Boda boda riders in Kabale Municipality have accused the police of brutality and extortion in the course of enforcing the presidential directives on COVID-19
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni directed boda boda riders to carry only cargo and end their operations at 7:00pm as one way of curbing the spread of COVID19.
However, boda boda riders told www.mknewslink.com that Police have used this chance to obtain money from them.
According to Akim Tumwijukye, once their motorcycles are impounded, they are forced to pay 50,000cash which has no receipt.
Another boda boda rider Ronald Mugisha who works from highland stage said police are found of beating them yet the president ordered them to stop such punishment.
The Kabale Resident District commissioner RDC Darius Nandinda told www.mknewslink.com that boda boda riders have continued violating guidelines on COVID19 to the extent that some have knocked down police officers.
RDC Darius encouraged the police to continue mounting road blocks to arrest every rider violating the Ministry Of Health guidelines aimed at safeguarding Ugandans against the pandemic
