In Masindi—

The health team from Masindi General Hospital and Uganda Police have this afternoon evacuated the body of James who passed on yesterday evening in Kijura North Central Division in Masindi Municipality.

James who spent the night at the scene in another cell is suspected to have succumbed to alcohol. The body has been evacuated to Masindi General Hospital mortuary.

Ngonzebwa Topisita the area local council secretary explains that yesterday the area defence contacted police to evacuate the body but in vain.

Moses Kiirya the Masindi district speaker has apologized to the community and said that police were unable to respond immediately since they lacked Personal Protective Equipment – PPEs.

Simon Peter Kaahwa the area chairperson has applauded the speaker for the good gesture. He has also appreciated the health team and police for rescuing them.

In Sheema–

Residents of Sheema have since yesterday been jubilating over the appointment of their son as commissioner in the ministry of education.

Rev. Can. Duncans Mugumya was on 3^rd July 2021 appointed commissioner in charge of physical education and Sports.

Mugumya has for over 10 years been the principal for Ryakasinga Center for Higher education located in Sheema south, Sheema district.

Sheema district is well known for being up to date in technology and online communication therefore all their Whatsapp and Facebook groups kept congratulating their son upon the appointment.

Speaking with www.mknewslink.com managing editor today July 8, 2021 morning in a telephone interview, Can. Mugumya noted that he did interviews at the education service commission and passed them.

He added that therefore the president went by the decision of the service commission and signed his appointment which takes immediately effect.

The canon added that throughout last night, people of Sheema and the entire country were calling to congratulate him upon this milestone that he got.

Rev. Can. Mugumya is an Anglican priest under West Ankole diocese and he was appointed a canon by Bishop Yona Katoneene around 2014.

In Kampala—

The minister of Local Government Raphael Magyezi has come out exclusively to tell www.mknewslink.com managing editor how he survived the dangerous COVID19.

Magyezi contracted the disease last month together with his driver and his escort survived.

He told www.mknewslink.com managing editor yesterday at his office at Workers’ house 2^nd floor that after testing positive to COVID 19, he came out and publically announced it.

The minister added that to establish COVID 19 is funny, none of his family members contracted the disease as a result of him getting it.

He advised the public to improve their immunity by eating fruits in huge amounts, drinking hot water among others.

He called upon the public to go for vaccination adding that he got lucky because he had completed his two doses of the vaccine which helped him to heal quickly.

The minister finally wants the public to observe SOPs and go public whenever they test positive for COVID 19.

In Kisoro–

Kisoro district police are holding 7 people who were caught conducting prayers at a colleague’s home in Kibande Village, Muhindura Kanaba Sub County.

The seven were on Wednesday morning at around 8:00am arrested by police alongside the sub county councilor Emmanuel Nigonsaba after a tip off from one of the residents.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional Police spokesperson has identified the seven as Peace Nyirahabwe Lydia 20, a pastor of Born again Ministries from Kibande village, Phiona Ntaringutimana 20, Pofia Nyiramahoro 18, Jane Nyiramukyo 17, Immaculate Dusengimana 18, Sylvia Musabimana 18, and Jacklyn Watukunde 17.

Maate said that the arrested are currently held at Kisoro police station for safe custody.

Karorero Kanizio the chairperson LC1in Kibanda village told www.mknewslink.com  reporter that he had warned Lydia Nyirahabwe on several occasions to stop conducting players at her home but kept a deaf ear.

President Museveni on June 18th 2021 banned congregations and other public gatherings as one of the measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19.

In Masindi—-

Residents of Kijura South Cell in Central Division Masindi Municipality are stranded with the lifeless body of a nonresident only identified as James.

According to the area local council secretary Ngonzebwa Topisita, the deceased who is said to be a northerner passed on Wednesday at around 3PM.

Ngonzebwa explained that on Tuesday night they heard someone shouting and they thought maybe he is from the bar heading home.

“We tried to give him first aid for close to seven hours but unfortunately he died at around 3pm, the area defense contacted police but they didn’t turn up,” She explained.

Ngonzebwa has appealed to security to turn up for rescue because they are stranded with the lifeless body of James in their area.

“Worst of all we can’t trace his area of residence since he doesn’t have identification card and no one knows his area of residence,” Stranded Ngonzebwa said.

By 5PM yesterday, the lifeless body of James was still lying at the scene.

In Masindi—

Police in Masindi are holding a man who attempted to assassinate the Resident District Commissioner – RDC Masindi in her office.

The suspect identified as Joseph Serugo in his late 40’s yesterday evening came seeking for Nalongo Rose Kirabira the RDC claiming he was a local investor from Kampala.

According to Kenneth Tumusiime an eyewitness, Serugo removed a knife from an envelope and hid it in waist thus he had to alert the RDC’s secretary on matter.

Rose Kirabira the RDC – Masindi told www.mknewslink.com reporter that when her secretary was alerted that Serugo had a knife, she ran out and alerted security who checked him and found his knife which he claimed was for personal security.

According to Ms. Kirabira, if Serugo was given an opportunity to enter in her office, he could have easily removed his knife and stabbed her.

“Maybe they are targeting all the Resident District Commissioners in the country, the good news is that God has saved me, but I’m asking the government to handle the suspect with iron hand to get others,” Kirabira added.

In Rubanda—

Police in Rubanda are investigating circumstances under which a 32 year old man was assaulted to death.

Kigezi Regional police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the deceased as Nicholas Kanyesige of Mumwiga cell Kashenyi parish Bubare sub county Rubanda.

Maate told www.mknewslink.com that the deceased was allegedly assaulted by one Kiiza a resident of Buzoba cell Bubare parish/ Sub County who is currently on the run.

“It’s alleged that on the morning of 07/07/2021 at around 08:00hrs at Kimusa B” cell Ihanga parish Bubare sub county, the suspect who is a shamba boy in the home of Paul Kataratambi saw the deceased heading to his worker place and suspected he was a thief,” Maate noted.

Maate narrated that the deceased who wore only a trouser was suspected   to be a wrong person not knowing that he was mentally sick thus the suspect caught up with him near a house under construction, assaulted and killed him instantly.

Police were notified, visited the scene and body was taken to Kabale referral hospital for postmortem.

Inquiries are at hand as well as hunting for the suspect so  he is brought to book.
