In Rukungiri–

Police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances under which a man was yesterday murdered by unknown people who took away with his money.

The deceased Edison Amanya 23years is a resident of Kigarigari cell, Nyakitabire parish Ruhinda sub county Rukungiri district.

Kigezi Regional spokesperson Elly Maate told www.mknewslink.com  reporter that Amanya remained home after his parents left at 0830hrs to harvest ground nuts in the neighborhood.

Maate narrated that when the parents returned home at around 1700hrs the deceased lying dead on his bed with a deep cut on his throat.

According to Maate, police preliminary investigations indicated that killers robbed 200,000shs from the deceased and 930,000sh from the parents’ bedroom.

The body of the deceased was picked by the police and taken to Rwakabengo Healthy center III for a postmortem examination and no arrests have so far been made.

The case was registered at Ruhinda police station under reference number SD 13/09/07/2021 to help in investigations

In Isingiro—

Police in Rwizi region have in custody their police Constable for allegedly shooting a suspect in Isingiro district.

According to Rwizi police mouthpiece ASP Samson Kasasira, Special Police Constable Alosyious Kakooza 39 years attached to Ngarama Police station on 8^th July 2021 shot Arnold Atwembeire 25 years a resident of Kiguli village, Ngarama parish, Ngarama subcounty in Isingiro district.

Kasasira told www.mknewslink.com that the SPC Kakooza had gone to arrest Arnold after his brother Lauben Mujuni reported a case of threatening violence and assault against him.

It’s alleged that Arnold however moved out of the house armed with two pangas threatening to kill his brother which prompted Special Police Constable Alosyious Kakooza to open fire on the deceased.

Kasasira said Arnold sustained bullet wounds and within a range of close to one kilometer, he collapsed and died on the way as he was being rushed to the hospital.

The scene of the crime was visited by Isingiro district CID D/ASP Mbabazi Zakaria, recorded statements from eyewitnesses, recovering cartridges and the gun rifle number UG POL 801V 7119-12591 with 16 rounds of ammunitions

The body of the deceased was taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital for postmortem as inquiries into the matter are still in initial stages.

In Kakumiro—

Police in Kakumiro are hunting for 24 year old man who hacked his grandfather to death over land

Mathias Katayimba 24, a resident of Buhonda village Kisiita Sub County in Kakumiro district hacked his grandfather after he stopped him from selling part of their family land.

This happened on the night of Wednesday at around 11PM. Katayimba stormed the home of his grandfather, David Ngumbia and hacked him severally with a machete.

Rose Kyaligonza, a resident said that by the time they responded to Ngumbi’s alarm for help, he had already breathed his last.

ASP Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, told www.mknewslink.com  reporter that residents found the deceased’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood inside his house.

“We have launched manhunt and investigations of suspect who fled from the scene and appeals to anybody with relevant information on his whereabouts to notify the nearby police.” Hakiza added.

Police picked the lifeless body of David Ngumbia and took it to Kakumiro health Center IV for postmortem.

In Mbarara—

Police in Mbarara city are holding two security guards attached to Agri Industrial Security Company for gunning down two suspected beer thieves.

It is alleged that on 8th.July.2021around 2332/c at Fuel station and Nile Breweries Depot in Ruti trading center along Mbarara –Kabale road, the two suspected thieves tried stealing crates of beer from a truck registration Number UAV 203T.

ASP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi police mouthpiece told journalists in a press statement that as they were stealing, one of the security guard identified as Mugume Lauben 40 years shot and killed the two on spot.

The two unidentified bodies of the suspected thieves were taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem, according to Kasasira.

He intimated to www.mknewslink.com that two security guards were arrested from the scene of crime, two rifles; SAR and a pump action were also exhibited from the scene.

In Masindi—-

Business operators in Masindi district have filed a petition at the Resident District Commissioner’s RDC Office asking the government to consider them among the vulnerable.

The petition was delivered on Thursday evening during COVID 19 emergency meeting with the state minister for Bunyoro affairs.

Reading the petitions, Dominic Tibasimwa the deputy RDC said that he has received two petitions from business operators and tailors.

Part of the petition read that their businesses are not operating and they don’t have bread to feed their families, therefore asked government to include them among the vulnerable so that they can receive relief package.

Abdulah Sserunkuma the chairperson Masindi Business Community noted that the pandemic has paralyzed businesses, money lenders and landlords are asking them to pay the arrears.

Jennifer Namuyangu Kacha the state minister for Bunyoro Affairs explains that the government is aware of how people in rural areas have been affected, but the budget they have is limiting.

Namuyangu has asked the leaders to explain to their subjects including those who have put in their petitions that they are willing but they are incapacitated in terms of resources.

Grace Mary Mugasa the State Minister for Public Service explains that there is study progress in Hoima compared to Masindi, she notes that the Masindi team has been affected by the network.

“We have requested for the extension of deadline to ensure that no one is   left out,” Mugasa added.
