MASINDI BODA BODA RIDERS STORM POLICE STATION TO LYNCH SUSPECTED MOTORCYCLE THIEF

A suspected motorcycle thief only identified as Odanga has today afternoon survived being lynched by angry boda boda riders in Masindi town.
According to sources, the owner of the motorcycle who is yet to be identified informed the chairperson of boda boda riders in Masindi that his motorcycle which went missing in 2019 is parked in town, and wanted him to intervene.
Iddi Onyera Rajid the chairperson of boda boda riders in Masindi district the angry boda boda riders had vowed to end Odanga’s life over theft of the motorcycle, but he contacted police which intervened and rescued the suspect’s life.
He noted that the suspect who is in cells at Masindi CPS is a resident of Bishenyi in Mirya Sub County while the owner of the motorcycle is a resident of Kabarwana in Central Division Masindi municipality.
He told www.mknewslink.com that Boda boda riders who were not satisfied with police intervention decided to storm Masindi CPS to lynch the suspect there.
The chairperson also told our reporter that the riders who blamed his office for failing their mission forcefully closed the boda boda rider’s office.
Addressing the angry boda boda riders at the scene, IP Peter Mukasa the Community Liaisons Officer Masindi District warned them against taking law in their hands.
“If the suspect is already in hands of police why do you go ahead and storm the police station, let the law take its course.” Mukasa told boda boda riders.
By press time Odanga was in police cells at Masindi Central Police Station.
