In Bushenyi—

Ruyonza School which used to be a great school has drastically declined in the recent past years.

It is said that the school used to be among the best until the longest serving head teacher at Nganwa high school Gift was transferred to the school.

However, Bushenyi Municipal Education Officer Dan Mugyenyi is convinced that the school will soon re-attain its lost glory.

Mugyenyi told www.mknewslink.com that he has re-organized everything at Ruyonza School and parents should enroll their children rest assured that they will pass.

The municipal officer noted that Marion Ashaba the former head teacher at Plus Two High School; well known for passing excellent results wherever she goes is now in charge of Ruyonza school.

He noted that he has put systems in both private and government schools which has made Bushenyi- Ishaka Municipality the best in UCE in the whole country.

They are only four government aided schools in the municipality; Ishaka Adventist College, St Kagwa High School, Ruyonza school, and Bweranyangi Girls’ Secondary School.

In Bushenyi—

 Kabagarame international pork market road is to be tarmacked in 2022-2023 financial year.

According to the deputy town clerk Didas Muhanguzi the feasibility study to determine the length and cost of the road is about to start.

The road accommodates many vehicles of customers from Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi and within the whole of Uganda.

He said this that they have this financial yearworked on Kyeitembe, Nyamushekyera and municipal headquarters roads.

He revealed that they will work on two roads of; Kitokye in central cell and Kabagarame pork market road.

In Sheema—

Councilors in Kitagata Town Council have lashed back at their Area Member of parliament Professor Elijah Mushemeza Dickens for submitting a list of members on Kitagata Hot springs committee without consulting them.

In a council meeting held yesterday at Kitagata Town Council, in Kitagata, Sheema South, Sheema district, Councilors questioned their legislator’s move of submitting the list of member on the committee to the minister of local government Hon.Rapheal Magyezi when he didn’t first consult anyone concerning the matter.

David Atwiine the Kitagata Town council mayor told council members that he was served with the said letter from the Member of Parliament in his office but as Kitagata Town council leadership, they were never consulted by their legislator on the development.

Mary Kabungo a Councilor defined Mushemeza as a conman who has on several times dodged Council meetings claiming that he is always in Kampala.

“We’ve been trying to engage our legislator several times to at least come to our Council and we discuss such matters but instead he has been declining our invitations” she explained.

Flavia Mbabazi another Councillor in her Submission noted that their legislator should always have time with local leaders to discuss such matters instead of acting in dictatorial way.

Mushemeza whom www.mknewslink.com  found at his residence in Sheema district confirmed that he wrote a letter on the 9th.August.2021 to the minister of local government Rapheal Magyezi bearing names of a committee of Kitagata Hot springs.

He said that he failed to convene a meeting with Kitagata Town council leaders about the matter since he is always busy in Kampala.

“As a Member of Parliament I don’t need to first ask for a permission from a chairman local Council three or a town clerk when am to address important matters to the minister, “Mushemeza noted.

Professor Elijah Mushemeza further said that Kitagata Town council leaders are ganging up to grab the hot springs but he assured Sheema residents that he will not cease on the matters concerning the hot springs.

It should be noted that people who intend to use the hot springs are charged money between 2000- 3000 shs before Accessing the hot springs which has not been the case in the past.

In Bushenyi—

The chairman of NRM for Bushenyi Ishaka municipality, personal assistant and close friend to tycoon Hassan Bassajabalaba Muhammed Lukwago has run lawyers to sue 187 traders for damaging his name.

Through his lawyers of M-S Abaine- Buregyeya and CO. advocates, Lukwago claims that on 11^th August 2021, the traders portrayed him as a mess and nonsense to society and people leads.

Lukwago says that on the above date, Asaph Bamusiime Muhwezi the traders’ chairperson mobilized his colleagues to broke the Kabirisi road in protest to parking fees.

The lawyers maintain that he is not a tenderer of any tender in Bushenyi-Ishaka contrary to allegations by traders that he is a tenderer of street parking, slaughter fees, hotel tax.

Therefore, the traders should either pay 2.105 billion shillings, 10% as part of lawyers’ costs in 7 days from today or face commercial high court in Kampala to answer to charges of damaging the name and reputation of Muhammed Lukwago.

In related development, 270 businessmen of Ishaka town have written to Bushenyi -Ishaka municipality authorities accepting to pay 500/= each hour as parking fees instead of 200.

Efforts to speak to Bamusiime were futile as our calls could not go through.

Speaking to www.mknewslink.com managing editor in an interview, Lukwago confirmed that he is not a tenderer of any tender in Bushenyi ishaka municipality as earlier raised in a petition, therefore since they tarnished his name, they should accept to pay over 2 Billion shillings within 7 days from today August 24, 2021.

In Fort portal—–

The bishop of Fort-portal catholic diocese the most. Rev. Dr. Robert Muhiirwa has virtually launched a 2 billion fundraising campaign to renovate the roofing of Virika Catholic Cathedral.

Virika Cathedral which is the headquarters of Fort-portal catholic diocese was erected in 1968; it has been faced with leakages from the roof for a quiet long time.

Speaking at the fundraising launch drive today, the bishop said each Christian in the diocese is requested to contribute 5000 shillings, adding that several committees have been instituted to oversee the exercise.

Alex Ruhunda the Chairperson Fundraising Committee and Member of Parliament Fort-portal Central constituency appealed to each one to contribute towards the noble cause.

According to Christians who spoke to www.mknewslink.com ,this is the appropriate time to conduct such a fundraising as they are still in lockdown and by the time lock down gets over, they will be in position to utilize their cathedral without any disturbance.

In Sheema—

Professor Elijah Dickens Mushemeza the legislator for Sheema South constituency in Sheema district has accused the district leadership of trying to grab Kitagata Hot springs.

Professor Mushemeza’s comments came to limelight after the district leadership started charging 2000 -6000shs from every person who intends to use the hot springs.

Mushemeza addressing the press yesterday in Sheema district noted that he will not tolerate this nonsense by the district officials who are hungry for money.

“Kitagata hot springs were predominantly free of charge to everyone who intended to use them so it’s nonsensical to charge people that huge amount of money,”Mushemeza explained.

Musiime Nicholas who hails from Kishabya in Shuuku Sub County told www.mknewslink.com that they have severally complained about the money charged by the district leadership.

“These are natural features which were created by God so the district has no moral authority whatsoever to tax or extort money from people who use the hot springs, “he added.

It should be noted that Sheema residents have for a long time been locked up in fights with district leadership over the re- development of Kitagata Hot springs.

Our efforts to get a comment from Jemmimah Buhanda the Sheema district boss were futile since she declined to pick our frequent calls.

In Rukungiri—

Police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances under which a 40 year old man killed his biological brother.

According to Kigezi Regional police Spokesperson Elly Maate, the deceased Nuwagaba Robert 36 years, resident of Katenga Cell, Nyibingo Parish, Kebisoni Sub in Rukungiri district was allegedly killed by his brother Mpora Benon a 40 year, resident of the same address.

It’s alleged that on the 22/08/2021 at around 2100hrs, while the two brothers returned home from Nyibingo trading centre, they had a quarrel which led to a fight and the suspect overpowered his brother.

The suspect grabbed the brother’s neck and used the new Panga he had just bought from the trading Centre to cut him on the neck.

The police PRO narrated that the deceased started bleeding furiously and made an alarm which attracted residents who rushed him to the nearby clinic.

“They tried to rush him to Damson’s Clinic in Kebisoni trading Centre for First Aid where he was pronounced dead before he was attended to,”Maate said.

Police visited the scene, picked the body and took it to Rwakabengo Health Center III pending postmortem.

Inquiries are at hand as the hunt for the suspect is on since he is on run.

In Rubanda—

The Rubanda District Deputy Speaker Pierre Mbabazi Nyetegyereize has been arrested alongside two others over mismanagement of funds for the Kabale Journalists Emyooga Sacco.

Mbabazi who doubles as the Hamurwa Sub county LC.5 Councilor was arrested for fraudulently acquiring a loan of 1.2 million from the Sacco, yet he is not a journalist.

Others arrested with Mbabazi are, the Executive Director of Western Media Awards Moses Henry Tahoreraho and Bright Manure the Treasurer of Kabale Municipality Journalists Emyooga Sacco.

The three were arrested on the orders of the Kabale District RDC Darius Nandinda after they alleged mismanaged of Ug shs. 36 million that include 30m that was a grant from the government as a startup capital.

Their arrest follows an audit report presented by Kabale District commercial officer Erasmus Natumanya presented in which he said that the Kabale Municipality Emyooga Sacco was “grossly mismanaged” and there was no clear record of money used since the Sacco did not have cash books, payment vouchers and receipt books.

In Mbarara—

Mbarara district leadership led by the district chairman Didas Tabaro and Mbarara city council leadership led by mayor Kakyebezi are locked up in fist fights over properties.

The fights resumed on Sunday 22nd.August.2021 in a meeting convened at Igongo cultural center that was chaired by Hon. Rapheal Magyezi the minister for local government.

Magyezi last week met a selected team from Mbarara district and Mbarara city council to discuss on the fate of the properties where the district has been before it can shift to Bwizibwera.

According to the law Mbarara city council is supposed to take over the premises of Kamukuzi where Mbarara district headquarters have been though the district leadership are still claiming the ownership of the premises.

There is a sharp rift between mayor Kakyebezi Robert and the Mbarara district boss Didas Tabaro and it is said that these two don’t see eye to eye.

Didas Tabaro during the meeting with the minister emphasized that they can’t leave the ownership of the district premises since mayor Kakyebezi and team don’t know how the buildings at the district were built.

Tabaro noted that the district has for a long been collecting revenue out of these buildings at the district so Kakyebezi and team don’t have knowledge on how to manage the properties at Kamukuzi.

Tabaro further noted that they don’t have problem with the city occupying the district premises at Kamukuzi but they want some of the buildings to stay in the hands of the district.

Tabaro said that the district has on several occasions given plenty land to Mbarara city council thus generating a lot of revenue to the council

Mayor Kakyebezi in his submission asked the minister to give the district leadership money (capital) and leave Kamukuzi amicably and shift to Bwizibwera instead of claiming the ownership of Kamukuzi.

“What if other districts which were curved from Mbarara district come claiming the ownership of Kamukuzi, would they allow them to go on,” Kakyebezi added.

Some of the properties which the two parties are fighting for include the buildings rented by MUBS University, building that is rented by UMI, Nganwa hostels which is occupied by Generation suites and king of Kings.

The meeting that was attended by Members of Parliament from Mbarara city and the district failed to bear fruitful thoughts and on this point, they agreed to select a committee composed of the LCV chairman, city Mayor and the members of parliament from Mbarara city and the district.
