In Masindi—
There was a drama on Monday morning in Kisanja Kichope in Buruli Constituency Masindi district after a man in his late 20’s was attacked by a snake on his neck for stealing Shs22,000.
It’s alleged that the suspect identified as Francis Byaruhanga conned Macline Kansimiire of Shs22, 000 promising to get her a job at Refugee Camp in Kiryandongo district, but disappeared without giving her phone number.
Kansimiire said that since she didn’t have any other way of recovering her money, she decided to apply African chemistry to recover her money.
This morning, Byaruhanga appeared at Kisanja Kichope with a snake in the neck, with Kansimiire’s money.
While shading tears, Byaruhanga asked for forgiveness and pledged to pay extra money.
Byaruhanga who said it’s his first time to do such an act attributed it to lack of a job which prompted him to con people to get money.
According to residents, this man is not a resident of their area, and such acts had never happened in their area.
Jesca Maguru a resident of Kisanja Kichope explained that she was in garden, and she heard people shouting at the trading center.
“I though they are business people, when I went there, I found people surrounding a man who had a snake in his neck plus money, as if he had stolen the money from someone,” she narrated.
Maguru who is in her early 40’s explained that she has never seen such an act since she was born though she has been watching them on televisions, and hearing news on different radio stations.
John Tumuhaise also a resident of Kisanja told our reporter that he has never seen such an act in the area.
He noted that it’s better to trap thieves in such a way instead of lynching them.
